SHOCK: Federal Government Wasted Money During Oil Spill

Hey it wasn’t their money...

The federal government hired a New Orleans man for $18,000 to appraise whether news stories about its actions in the Gulf oil spill were positive or negative for the Obama administration, which was keenly sensitive to comparisons between its response and former President George W. Bush’s much-maligned reaction to Hurricane Katrina.

The government also spent $10,000 for just over three minutes of video showing a routine offshore rig inspection for news organizations but couldn’t say whether any ran the footage. And it awarded a $216,625 no-bid contract for a survey of seabirds to an environmental group that has criticized what it calls the “extreme anti-conservation record” of Sarah Palin, a possible 2012 rival to President Barack Obama.

The contracts were among hundreds reviewed by The Associated Press as the government begins to provide an early glimpse at federal spending since the Gulf disaster in April. While most of the contracts don’t raise alarms, some could provide ammunition for critics of government waste.

  2. Small potatoes compared to the stimulus.
No wonder they didn’t want BP to handle spending the money from the slush fund.

  3. That’s nothing.  I’m listening to the West Bend Council discuss a moving City hall and expanding the police station.  Where is the need?  Where is the necessity?  I want a new car, but I’m not going to get one in this economy.  My current car is a beater, but it still runs, so I’m going to keep it for now.  Local government needs to do the same.

  4. Typical style of spending by a government controlled by Democrats.

  5. The disastrous oil spill has gotten the long way. It has been the hotly debated issue that has awaken almost everybody about how destructive are we to our mother nature. I may say that it was a great destruction that makes us aware and concern all these years. There are several efforts for this that have been wasted. However, today when we talk about the music industry many were saying that this lady was just wasting her effort for her unusual attires every now and then. What do you get whenever you mix Lady Gaga and her meat dress with Ke$ha and her garbage bag-inspired creation? A mess you wouldn’t want to take home in a doggie bag. There were some interesting things going on at the MTV Video Music Awards. There was a song sung by Swift about forgiveness to Kayne West. This emotional song, says Hollywood Life, wasn’t even enough to start a buzz within the media. Jokes were scripted. All of the ones said by Host Chelsea Handler seemed to be that way. Lady Gaga is known for the outfits she wears continually. This is why the PETA and vegan groups that got offended shouldn’t have been surprised by her meat outfit. She showcased an animal meat bikini before. It was in Japanese Vogue. There was a feature being done by “America’s Top Model” with animal meat clothing. Honestly…

  6. Hi,
I know over the years, car companies say they improve every year. Sometimes some of the cars are still bad. How of all the new cars on the market, which (make, model) is the worst and which one would break down and fail the fastest?
