  1. One more question for Ziegler: If you win the primary, will you bother to familiarize yourself with the problems of the district before the general election or just wait to find out if you’ve won before you have to go to the effort to find out what has to be done?

Whether I agree with the other candidates or not, most have made a serious effort to identify problems and consider what they would do to address them.

I am confused by Weigand in his first answer. He seems to be saying that the board has done a good job keeping spending under control, yet he comes across elsewhere as a spending hawk.

  2. I wish someone like Ginny were running.  We could really use her common sense and stick-to-it-ness.  Why aren’t you Ginny?

  3. I didn’t see anyone talk about a line-by-line review of the budget (maybe it was inferred a couple places).  You know there is stuff to “whack” without hurting anything.

  4. Yeah Ziegler didn’t do himself any favors. “I have no ideas, I just need something to do.”

Pretty easy to see who the tax and spenders are in that election as well.

  5. Very easy to spot the the taxers, rather than hope and change they offer more of the same.

  6. Easy to see who the crushers of hope and change are.  Sounds like Marquardt wants readin, writin, and rithmetic. (apply your best Souther drawl).  With open enrollment, people have a choice of where to send their kids.  Watch them bolt if we go with a zero baseline. With revenue limits, you can’t just cut and get it back later if you decide it should have been kept in the first place. Also,if you think it’s good to have an exodus through open enrollment, you know less about school budgets than you purport to know.

  8. Oops, I forgot an “only” before “readin”.

  9. One more question for Ziegler: If you win the primary, will you bother to familiarize yourself with the problems of the district

“I have no ideas, I just need something to do.”

Boy, pretty clear you do not know this guy.
Unlike so many in the blogosphere, he just doesn’t offer uninformed opinions.
The notion that an ordinary person can really understand the complexities of school finance before becoming involved is pretty silly.
