The uproar over this has been the funniest story of the day.
Washington (CNN) - The third episode of the History Channel’s miniseries “The Bible” was supposed to be remembered for the brutality of Babylonian ruler Nebuchadnezzar, the strength of Daniel in the lion’s den, and the birth of Jesus Christ.
But after viewers claimed there was a striking resemblance between Satan’s human form and President Barack Obama, that probably won’t be the case.
Buzz on Twitter quickly grew. According to Topsy.com on Monday, there were an estimated 20,000 tweets containing the words “Obama” and “Satan” since the 9:00 p.m. ET hour on Sunday, the hour in which Satan appears in the two-hour show.
In a statement, miniseries producer Mark Burnett called claims there was a resemblance “utter nonsense.”
He vaguely resembles Obama, but any Satan they picked would. Satan can’t be fat, he can’t be short, he can’t be black, he can’t be a woman and he would preferrably be middle eastern because that is where the story takes place. Any actor meeting those criteria will vaguely resemble Obama.
I read a follow up story—this actor has portrayed Satan before—even prior to Obama becoming a national figure.
If you want something to uproar about over “The Bible”—most of the actors are white. That is not what most of the people portrayed would be. The would definitely be darker—even Jesus.
It is important to note that one of the original tweets noting a resemblance came from Glenn Beck.
My reaction was: the actor playing Satan looked too pleasant and inviting. It should have been a portrayal showing Satan as repulsive and repugnant.
A bigger criticism of that particular part of “The Bible” is skipping over/footnoting the life of King Solomon and some of the historical “liberties” rounding off the Old Testament.
All in all, the accurate portrayals of the evils perpetrated by the governments of that time are an excellent lesson against big government.
I watched that episode last night and I saw no resemblance to Obama. If you think all black men look alike then maybe you did.
Apologies for the 5-minute MS Paint job, but couldn’t find the full scene posted anywhere.

I agree with Kevin - too much “Hollywood” and not much adherence to the truth. In a previous episode the angels in Sodom and Gomorrah were bleeding, and one of them took off after the residents like a ninja fighter with a couple of big swords. I really don’t think angels bleed or require the help of man made swords to do some dirt to miscreants.
And Terry - “all black men look alike…?” No, but the satan actor did bear a resemblance to our half-black President, and they’re both out to destroy us. How could you miss the resemblance?
Typecasting
Not black.

Just remember the kill count in the bible:
Satan = 10
God = 2,476,633
And of those 10…God tricked Satan into what..4-5 ?
God = 2,476,633
Ya, but they all needed killin’
The same actor portrayed Satan in Part 1 of “The Bible” in the fall of mankind Graden of Eden scene and a scene showing him present just before the destruction of Sodom.
So its interesting this is not an issue until part 3.
