Where are all of those lefties who like to hammer the U.S. for “flexing our muscles?”
Russian warships will visit U.S. foe Cuba for the first time since the Soviet era, the navy said Monday.
The destroyer Admiral Chabanenko and two support ships from a squadron that has been on a lengthy visit to Latin America will put in at Havana on Friday for a five-day stay, navy spokesman Capt. Igor Dygalo said.
It will be the first visit by Russian warships to the Communist-led island just 90 miles from the United States since the 1991 Soviet collapse, Dygalo said.
The Admiral Chabanenko, the nuclear-powered cruiser Peter the Great and support ships arrived in the Caribbean last month in a deployment also unprecedented since Soviet times. The voyage is widely seen as a show of force close to U.S. shores and a response to the U.S. use of warships to deliver humanitarian aid to Russia’s neighbor Georgia after their war in August.
Um, can you tell me what lefties you’re talking about? I think you are arguing against a strawman.
To the issue, is anyone seriously scared of a “show of force” by a couple of minor Russsian warships to a decrepit country near our border?
I think it’s a “show of force” to the United States, not to Cuba.
Yes, I agree. Is anyone scared of that?
The point is that every time our military gets close to their “sphere of influence” they scream aggression and bloody murder and all the lefties join the “Evil America” chorus and yet when the Russians or the Chinese do it to us its like “how dare you America even think anything uncharitable”!!
This is especially idiotic when Putin is scrambling to get back into power so he can refight the whole cold war and try to wipe the floor with what he logically believes is a weak-kneed, wide-eyed liberal, and pacifistic Obama and the Chinese are quietly preparing to boot us out of all of Asia and the Western Pacific in an effort to lock in the resources they need.
Which lefties are saying this?
Maybe it’s the lefties in Russia, since Russia is the one doing the “muscle-flexing.”
I was confused by the question, too. Am I, as a lefty (not to be confused with frequent commenter Lefty), supposed to be hammering Russia for flexing its muscles? or hammering the US for allowing it to happen?
I figure if a naval ship wants to dock at a port of one its longtime allies, that’s certainly fine, especially since that navy long ago ceased to be a serious threat. The Russian Navy is still pretty strong, but it’s nowhere near the threat the Soviet Navy was 30 years ago.
Personally, I think the “show of force” in response to providing “humanitarian aid” is the ridiculous part. Kinda like a bully mean-mugging you while you try to offer help to someone he just beat up.
