Rumor About Budget

The email is humming with news of a pending budget deal.  Transportation is still being discussed and the Dems are hammering for the KRM.  For the rest, it looks like the Dems are caving on the hospital tax, but the GOP is caving on the cigarette tax and the Patients’ Compensation Fund raid.  Both caucuses in the Assembly are split.

Call your legislators.

  1. Well if no one is truly happy then it must be a good compromise.

Well, at least until Doyle vetoes in the hospital tax since he reportedly will no longer have to veto in the Wisconsin Convenant.

  2. Done by email.

One wonders how Reince Priebus will feel if only 3 days after his “no new taxes” speech, he is repudiated by Party legislators by their action.

    Hmmmmmmm?

  3. The KRM proposal to the federal government tells their real plans.  It says they “assume” the legislature will increase their tax “as needed.”  They also “assume” the legislature will give them another $4.5 million per year to keep the rail boongoggle afloat.

The problem is, they never told the Legislature about their assumptions.  We will be left with a never ending string of tax increases if we don’t stop this thing.  Today is our last chance.

CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR NOW.  You can stop annual tax increases.

The only thing this rail idea has going for it is $611,000 in taxpayer funded lobbyists.

  4. If people think Doyle is “unhappy” with any kind of compromise, guess again.  Here’s a sample of everything else he will get if the Assembly and Senate agree on a budget:

    Cig tax increase
    PCF raid
    Garbage tax increase
Oil tax increase (yet to be taken up)
    Vehicle and license fee increases
Expansion of Family Planning Waiver program
Expansion of BadgerCare to all (not just poor) children
    A 4% property tax increase
In-state tuition deal for illegal aliens
$1 billion in Stewardship (land purchase) money
WI Covenant Program ($140 million a year)

And most of all, he finally gets a budget.  So while some may think that all parties are unhappy with this, I would venture a guess that Doyle is most pleased with all the little goodies he’s going to get, which are tucked nicely away.

  5. Hey Mr. Pants,

i wasn’t really referring to Doyle since he gets to rewrite the budget after anything passes the Legislature. If Doyle doesn’t like the final budget version, then he only has himself to blame.
