Rotating Skyscraper for Dubai

Cool.

image

This artist rendering released by Dynamic Architecture shows a rotating skyscraper that is to be built in Dubai, in various stages of movement. An Italian architect said he is poised to start construction on the new skyscraper that will be ‘the world’s first building in motion,’ an 80-story tower with revolving floors that give it an ever-shifting shape.

  3. That’s some mighty expensive art.  I wonder how fast it spins.

  4. I don’t think it will happen.  I just don’t see it happening for safety reasons and financing.

It’s going to be in Dubai, dude.  They build islands shaped like palm trees, indoor ski hills and the tallest buildings in the world.  It’ll happen.

  6. I could see it happening in Dubai before it happens in the US due to all our cost prohibitive regulations.

Your view would change throughout the day.  It could also offer energy savings by changing direct sun exposure but it could be disorienting trying to find the elevators aftr a few drinks.

  7. I’m glad for them, but I prefer my buildings not to move.  I don’t think I would go to work there everyday.

  8. It is definitely a “way cool” idea.  I can’t help but have flashbacks from “The Towering Inferno”, though, and doubt I would ever do anything more than stand in awe and take pics.
