Roessler’s Sweet Deal

Pretty sweet deal to double your salary and increase your pension as you’re reaching retirement age.

State Sen. Carol Roessler (R-Oshkosh) said today she will resign as of July 4 to accept a $95,000-a-year job in the state Department of Revenue.

[...]

If Roessler holds the job for a few years, it will boost her state pension, which is partly determined by someone’s final annual salaries. Legislators are paid $47,413 this year, but also get a daily $88 expense stipend when on official business.

  2. I believe she becomes the first official Republican legislator to be bought out of their seat by the Doyle administration.

I’m surprised Doyle isn’t mining in the Assembly to create vacancies.

  5. If she was paid by the word, it would be much more.

I would expect Republicans to keep the Roessler seat and probably win the Breske seat.

  6. In order to win you have to have a plan and some accomplishments.  What does the state senate Have?  They are aginst the democrats but outside of that they have been a complete zero.
Please list the programs, ideas that have come out of the senate.  Occasionally Lazich, Kanavas and Grothman have put forth some ideas but that is it.
Wasserman could whip Alberta, he is not looked at as the normal democrat and occasionally has some good ideas.

  7. We are going to have 2 good candidates in the R primary, both of which have a shot against the D candidate, one a really good shot and one a pretty good shot.  Either way, we will have a healthy primary and I think we will hold it and end up with a better Republican Senator than Carol.

That being said, this was surprising to see so quickly.  I would have expected they wait until her term ends.

  8. I give Bob credit. His hard-headed analysis is always outstanding.

I’ve been asked to help in the Rossler seat but it is not convenient. I’ll probably target precincts. Winning should never be about luck.
