Rodgers Looked Good

Admit it.  Aaron Rodgers looked very good.  Poised.  Good arm.  Good vision.  9 for 15, 117 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (not his fault).  Very clean.

  1. Maybe so, but it’s very early.  Let’s see how Mr. Rodgers performs in a tougher neighborhood (ie. a tough defense).

  2. Considering the pressure he was under, and the fan expectations, it was a pleasant surprise.  Showed good patience in the pocket.  His numbers would have been better apart from a few catchable ones dropped.

    But yes, Cincy is awful.

Anyway, hope he keeps it up.

  4. Why would anyone think he’d be terrible?  The knock on him has been durability, not ability.

I’m a Packer fan who survived the end of Bart Starr’s Packer career.  I can survive the end of Favre’s.  Just like, having survived the end of Lombardi’s career, I could handle the end of Holmgren’s.  Just don’t ask me about Ray Nitschke ... grin

  5. He didn’t look bad - he didn’t look good. Pretty average, against a poor Cincy defense. If he can stay healthy - I woiuld expect him to be in the middle of pack for QB’s. Which isn’t bad for your first full year.

  7. From where everything stands right now Rodgers is in a position to be a hero.  Brett is looking a little shaky out east and Aaron looked alright.  Let’s face it he needs more time under center.

If Rodgers does well, or above average, and Brett plays poorly, Rodgers will not only save managements behind, but he will have more positive media attention than any other QB.  Isn’t it kind of funny how he will get more publicity than Brady, Favre, or the Manning’s by just doing ok?

  8. AArod is in a no win situation. if he does bad the fans would scream for his head, if he does good they would say favre coud have done that or better.
and if he gets hurt your back up is a rookie.

  9. Well, in context of a 1st Pre-Season game against a very poor Cincy defense he looked ok.  He missed badly on an out thrown a 3rd down and they had to settle for a FG.  He missed a wide open James Jones (It was catchable I suppose, but that throw should have been better) on a deep flag.  I liked how he hung in the pocket, and seemed to have pretty good timing on slants and shallow in routes which are the bread and butter routes in the Packer offense.

Brohm looked awful.  I can’t believe they are considering going to the regular season with him as the #2.

  10. I agee TD - I think Flynn looked much better than Brohm. Given Rodgers fraility - we’ll probably be seeing them both at the QB spot this year.

  11. A guy pulls a hamstring once in three years and gets his foot stepped on in a freak situation against the Patriots and all of a sudden he’s a china doll.  I love it.

I’ll take that china doll over old man Favre, who last I checked was begging his coach to let him throw less in practice because his poor widdle arm is sore.

Guess what Brett?  The J-E-T-S S-U-C-K.  You’re going to be throwing a hell of a lot of passes this year.  Have fun.  Maybe they can just slip a couple ice packs under your shoulder pads.
