Robinson (No Relation) is Transferring

Why is she be allowed to transfer to another department and maintain her salary, pension, and benefits instead of showing her the door?

Denise Revels Robinson is stepping down from her position as director of the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has learned.

In a letter to the state Department of Children and Families and to bureau staff, Robinson, 62, wrote: “I have requested a transfer to another position in the Department of Children and Families.

“The details of my new position are being finalized; however I expect to begin my duties in January 2009.”

Robinson’s agency has been under fire for the way the bureau and one of its private contractors, La Causa, have handled the case of Christopher Thomas, the 13-month-old foster child who police say was beaten to death by his aunt last month. Police say Thomas’ sister suffered months of torture in their foster placement with the 24-year-old aunt, Crystal Keith.

  1. I’m guessing she is being allowed to transfer since it will be cheaper than the cost of the lawsuit that would follow her firing.

After all she didn’t DIRECTLY kill poor Christopher….

  2. At least she’s (mostly) gone.  I guess it’s as good as one could expect from the bureaucracy.

  3. FWIW, technically she’s transferring within the same Department.

  5. Firing hell - handcuffs is what is needed here.

At some point society needs to start taking the health and well-being of these kids - some of the most vulnerable, and already damaged - seriously.  They are lives, not files to be pencil-whipped.
