Roatan in the Bullseye

Aw, crap.

The Category 5 storm is expected to hit the coasts of Nicaragua and Honduras early Tuesday morning, according to the hurricane center.

As Felix intensified and closed in on the Central American coastline, the Honduran government issued a hurricane warning from Limon to its border with Nicaragua, the center said.

I sure hope they prepare well to reduce the loss of life and property.  That’s a monster.

Wendy and I took a cruise a few years ago and went to Belize and Roatan, Honduras.  We loved it - especially Roatan.  Here’s the pier.

And here’s Wendy on the zip line.

And here’s me stroking a monkey.

Let’s hope they survive the storm okay.

  1. Hang in there, Roatan!  I can’t wait to go back there.  My favorite place on earth, so far.

I worry about the folks on the coast.  Their homes are just feet from the water.

  2. Hi, just an update: 19:30 pm local time in Honduras.  No rain yet inland.  I called friends and former classmates who live in Gracias a Dios, Trujillo and Tocoa.  We expect Felix to hit us around 2 AM.
    Later.

  5. Hi! It’s still raining. No more hurricane alerts, but some flooding due to rivers overflowing their paths.  Some of the best places in Honduras (on my opinion are): Henry Morgan Resort in West End, Roatan and Hotel La Casa Rosada in Copan Ruinas, Copan. Later.
