State Rep. Jason Fields (D-Milwaukee) issued a statement today that he had been arrested for drunken driving Tuesday night and plans to plead guilty to the violation.
Fields, 34, a former stockbroker and financial adviser, is serving his second term in the Assembly. He did not release details of his arrest, which he called a “severe lapse in judgment.”
“There is no excuse for driving impaired,” Fields said in the statement. “I am thankful that no one was hurt. I accept full responsibility for my actions and I ask my constituents for forgiveness for my error.”
I wish more politicians would offer such a frank statement and apology when they screw up.
Good for him to own up to it, and it seems he’s sincere and blames no one but himself.
Sounds like the Jason I knew 15 + years ago. Good to see him owning up to his actions, something few politicians do these days.
