Ready

I went out and moved 4 inches or so of snow off of the driveway and sidewalk this morning. 19 horses coupled with 42 inches of snow throwing glory helps:

Of course, she has chains now. We’re expecting another foot or so in the next couple of days.  School is already canceled tomorrow. Hopefully our mailbox survives the snowmageddon.

  1. She’s a thing of beauty! Would love to have one as new as that - that reliably starts!

I have a 25+ year old Bolens Eliminator tractor with a 36” snow-thrower attachment (inherited from my father-in-law). It hasn’t worked all season, until tonight - spent about an hour tweaking the fuel line/filter/pump and she roared to life - thank God.

I can do my driveway and the entire sidewalk up and down both sides of the street I live on in about 15-20 minutes.

Now I can only pray she starts up again tomorrow after the ‘Shaved Ice’ Age is behind us.

  2. Clear around your mailbox as you would the hydrant, set up video surveillance, and take it to the city council if it gets mowed over again.

Jack up the back end on that mean machine and get some orange flames going. It’s perfect for slipping off to the local watering hole after a long mornin of plowin.

  3. My snowblower (a Hahn-Eclipse Snow Giant) - which is older than I am - is broken. Not quite sure of the exact vintage, but the manual has 1967 as a revision date. I’ve had it for 10 years & it’s been a trooper - the only time it’s started hard is when I’ve forgotten to turn the fuel shutoff line back on the with the start of the season.

Looks like it’s just the recoil starter so if I can manage to get out of the driveway tomorrow & hit the small engine repair shop, it should be an easy repair & be back up & running.

The guys who designed and built small engines from Tecumseh and Briggs are heroes in my book.

  4. Yeah, I need to snag one of those for my 2500-series Cub.  It’d sure beat shoveling the snow from the mailbox area in 50mph traffic.

  5. That is a mean-looking machine! We dont have anything like that in the UK, I have a tractor for cutting the lawn, but that snow thrower looks glorious indeed!
