In response to the decrease in the federal dollars, law enforcement and public health officials from Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington and Racine counties plan to regroup and set priorities among their projects, likely focusing on improving communications among the different emergency-response agencies.
Instead of wailing that the state or local governments should dill the void or something, they reacted by just buckling down and prioritizing. Good for them.
Which is, of course, what DHS should have been doing with money since it was created instead of throwing project money around like they were on shore leave.

That black hole of dollar sucking means that we are fighting them over there, we may be fighting them over here, but if we do we won’t have the money to do it over here.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on July 19, 2007 at 0649 hrsWe’re talking about $1.6 billion out of a nearly $3 trillion budget. And it’s federal spending that didn’t exist 7 years ago. This is the problem with government spending. Once it’s done once, any effort to trim it back or cut it is then seen by some as a “shortage.” If you got a bonus at work last year, but not this year is it a “shortage?”

I agree with Clark Kent Ervin that if we are fighting a war against terrorism, should we be spedning the money to do it? But I forgot. Tax cuts uber alles.
