Pssst… This story was on B&S this morning.
State Republican Party Chairman Brad Courtney will not seek re-election at the party’s annual convention in May, party officials said today.
Courtney, of Whitefish Bay, replaced long-time chairman Rick Graber eight months ago after President Bush appointed Graber as the nation’s ambassador to the Czech Republic.
Courtney, who had spent the last eight months meeting party loyalists at events around the state, wants to spend more time with his family, said party spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski.
Courtney has endorsed Reince Priebus, a party leader from Kenosha, in the election for party chair to take place after the annual convention, Kukowski said.
Don’t forget that Priebus wanted this back when the Graber ambassadorship rumors were circulating and there was going to be a race between him and Courtney for Chairman. The internecine backstabbing on this one must have been intense. I don’t see Courtney rolling over unless he had to.
Reince isn’t a back stabber. He’s a warrior with sound conservative values and he isn’t afraid to fight for them. This is a welcome change for our party. It’ll take some time to enact real change, but it’s a-comin’!
Sue your spot on with Reince as a warrior. He is first and foremost a Christian family man. A man with true conservative principles that as a warrior might help the milk-toast Senate and Assembly find their back bones and vote like conservatives.
I think I had this four minutes after you did Owen.
Try as they might they can not get this stuff as fast as we can.
