Porters of Racine, one of the oldest high-end furniture stores in Wisconsin, has announced it will close after 152 years in business, the Racine Journal Times reports.
“The decision has been made,” Micah Waters, vice president of the retailer, told the newspaper. “Under this economy the high-end luxury market has been hit like we have never seen before.
Way to go Doyle! Another feather in your cap?
Scarier than 2008, obama/Doyle 2012. Their campaign slogan: Ba, Ba, Ba, Baby, You aint seen “NOTHING” yet.
Libby’s, you must be excited!!! let’s distribute all the wealth and tax the Rich more! Yippee!!! Soon we’ll all be buying our Furniture from Wal-Mart!
This was an amazing store. My wife and I have bought a number of nice pieces of furniture from their furniture clearance centers. And something nice from Porters once.
The ironic thing is though, the pieces we bought did indeed come from China. So we’d see similar US made pieces they’d sell side by side. The US piece cost $4,000. The Chinese piece $1,500.
Now before you say we bought junk, we didn’t. This was high end Chinese stuff. Well made and good quality.
But in the end, they couldn’t pay the bills apparently selling the much lower margin furniture.
So how’s that hope & change goin’ for ya?
Y’all are way too predictable.
So George what is your take on it? So far what I have read seems right. taxes high, economy destroyed, wealth is the enemy, hard work is a waste of time…high end stores cannot keep the doors open. What do you not get here?
You’re right Fishy. The current economic situation is a direct result of the sole actions of Obama & Doyle, and only Obama & Doyle, and the demise of a small, local, high-end furniture store can be directly and only attributable to those two men’s actions.
What your other blathering about “hard work is a waste of time” is supposed to relate to remains a mystery.
Keep reading those talking points, fellas!
