Poor Use of a Limo

image

A US Government limousine drives past the US State Department building loaded with furniture from the Swedish furniture store IKEA, in Washington, DC. Incoming Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner apologized over past tax transgressions while vowing to act with “strength, speed and care” to revive the stricken US economy.

  1. A little research shows this to be an Ikea “thing”.

  2. I’m confused.  What is the correlation bewteen the photo, the “Swedish furniture store IKEA”, and Timothy Geithner?  Was it supposed to be Geithner’s limo?

IKEA USA is an “anchor” store in many malls and shopping centers across the country; I take it there isn’t one in Wisconsin.

Amusing photo nonetheless.  But I’m curious when the photo was taken.  The foilage seems a little “green” for this time of year, not to mention the sunshine…

  3. I suspect it’s a reference to Geither’s vow to revive “American” companies, but you’d have to ask the AP to be sure.

“Today, Ikea will send a mock motorcade (a limo and two Suburbans with furniture strapped to the roof) moving through the Washington area.”

  5. My first thought when I saw the picture, “this is the Obama’s moving to DC just like the Klampetts to Beverly Hills”.
