Yeah, a $170,000 per year job with a pension will do that.
Wisconsin members of Congress are largely free of the financial worries of their constituents, according to records reviewed by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
But Wisconsin’s congressional members are no different from their colleagues. They tend to earn more money and make larger investments than their constituents and can count on generous government pensions once they retire.
The “...make larger investments” part is tantalizing.
Cynics have noted that US Senators do exceedingly well on their investments--far better than Joe Schmoe.
It’s almost as though the Senators can see the future.
Hmmmmm.
Posted by dad29 on June 23, 2008 at 0719 hrsHere’s an idea: Local politicians should be paid the average annual income of all of their constituents. If they want to be paid more then they need to work to improve the income/economy of their constituents.
Any thoughts?
Posted by Matt on June 26, 2008 at 1002 hrsThat would invite even more government control of private industry.
