Permit Received

I received my concealed carry permit today. I put it in the mail on 11/1, so not a bad turnaround.

  1. I wish I had been here when you got the mail. I would have taken a picture. grin

  2. The DMV should take a lesson.

  3. By way of comparison, I put my truck registration renewal payment in the mail on 10/25 and still have not gotten my stickers…

  4. I received mine on the 10th. I had dropped my application in the mail on the 1st as well.

  5. I should add that my license # 18XX was issued on the 7th. Assuming the deluge of mail didn’t begin to arrive until the 2nd, and knowing that the DOJ worked through the weekend, that’s 1800 licenses in six days of processing, or about 300 a day.

At that rate, it’s going to take a long time to work through just the first week’s deluge of 20,000+ applications.

  6. My permit is #36xx and it was issued on 11/9. Perhaps they are getting into a groove.

  7. Here’s hoping!

In other news, my local watering hole that I had (post-tense!) been frequenting 2-3 times per week put up a “No firearms” sign.

Bummer. Looks like I need to find a different place to spend my money.

Hey, it wasn’t my idea to ban me. The owners chose to do that.

  8. In other states most all of those signs came down after a little while and I am sure they will here as well.  Once the hysteria that the news media has tried to gin up dies down, once people see that the “wild west” shootouts just don’t happen, businesses will come to realize that banning the most law-abiding citizens in the state from your store is not a wise business model.  We already have a report of a Cenex taking down their No Guns sign after receiving numerous complaints.

  9. Anyone have any word on reciprocity with Minnesota? When will Wisconsin permit holders be able to carry in Minnesota?

  10. Owen,

Just got of the phone with Mn BCA. Was informed that os of this moment there is NO reciprocity with the WU permit, but there is to be a meeting in ‘the next few days’ where it will be discussed. Was informed to check back in a week to ten days.  The number was (651) 793-7000.  Hope that helps…

  11. Thanks for the feedback. That helps a lot. I go to MN fairly often and their website still says that Wisconsin licenses aren’t valid. I’ll give them a call in a couple of weeks and see if that’s changed.

  12. Ahhh - application returned for being incomplete. How I missed the need for the Affirmation form I have no idea, as I proof read it a dozen times before dropping it in the mail on the 1st. I swear there was no mention or link to that form provided. Lots of education, yet I screw up a form. I must be getting old.
Back in the mail it goes, and off to more training I go; application in or not I need much more practice
