Passer-by Pushes Man Off Bridge

C’mon… you wanted to do that too...

Chen Fuchao, a man heavily in debt, had been contemplating suicide on a bridge in southern China for hours when a passer-by came up, shook his hand — and pushed him off the ledge.

Chen fell 26 feet (8 meters) onto a partially inflated emergency air cushion laid out by authorities and survived, suffering spine and elbow injuries, the official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.

The passer-by, 66-year-old Lai Jiansheng, had been fed up with what he called Chen’s “selfish activity,” Xinhua said. Traffic around the Haizhu bridge in the city of Guangzhou had been backed up for five hours and police had cordoned off the area.

  1. interesting legal question, is it attempted murder or an attempt to assist a suicide?

  2. considering there was an inflatible rescue cushion it was probably an attempt at a rescue perhaps.

  3. This is how America used to be. Back in the good old days. When fools were treated like fools. There were fewer fools back then because we took care of fools the way Lai Jiansheng takes care of fools. Also there were no lawyers trying to sue Lai Jiansheng. In fact, they probably would have been pissed that he got to the “jumper” before they did.

I expect there won’t be any more fools tying up traffic on that bridge in the foreseeable future. I also expect there will be a copycat “jumper” on the Golden Gate Bridge as early as next week. Rest assured that that moron will tie up traffic for at least 10 hours.

It won’t be cheep labor that allows China to overtake us. It will be that they have zoomed ahead in common sense and thinned their massive gene pool of morons looking for attention. Lai Jiansheng rocks!
