Passengers Take Down Hijacker

Score one for self-reliance.

A man armed with two pistols hijacked an Air Mauritania flight Thursday but was subdued by two passengers, a Spanish official said.

The plane landed safely in the Canary Islands and no one was hurt, the official said.

  2. The hijacker’s motive was not known but officials in Spain and Mauritania said he had demanded to be flown to France.-BBC

He probably just wanted to take advatage of that free admission at the Louvre.

  3. Abass Bass, a representative of the Mauritanian Embassy in Washington, described the incident as a “tentative hijacking.”

What does that mean - the guy really didn’t want to hijack the plane but couldn’t think of a better idea so he went ahead and did it or he really only sorta hijacked the plane but was really nice about it?

  4. Joe, I find the name ABASS BASS the more interesting element here.
Is it A-BASE BASE OR A-BASS BASE or A-BASS BASS?
    Inquiring minds want to know.
