Sounds about right for this administration.
“President Obama proved today that he’ll do anything to protect the narrow interests of his home state of Illinois, even if it means destroying Michigan’s economy,” he said in a statement. “Officials from his administration unveiled a 25-step plan full of half-measures and gimmicks when keeping Asian carp from devastating the Great Lakes $7 billion fishery requires only one step - immediately closing the locks.”
There is no reason to believe that these fish are not already in the lake. This needs to be made an environmental priority for this “green” , “eco-conscious” administration. To not close the canal in Chicago is to spell death for our salmon and trout fishing…..
Off topic…. Hasn’t anyone noticed that Jack Murtha passed away? I thought for sure today would be all about his crooked legacy.
Yah.
But can the Daley Machine produce an extra 75 million votes in ‘12?

It’s all image and no substance.

Everyone knows the score - no sense in badmouthing right after the man passed away. He’s a crook, but he still has a family.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on February 09, 2010 at 1241 hrsWhat???? You thought these people would give a damn about another invasive species running amok to destroy the ecosystem? Come on, environmentalism is “all about” destroying industry, and the fishing industry is no exception. Not to worry though, I’m sure the Chinese will be more than happy to fill the void. Soon enough comrades, soon enough it will be illegal to produce anything in the Socialist Sates of America.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on February 09, 2010 at 1246 hrsYup, yup, yup… It’s not about the environment, it’s about killing industry in the name of environmentalism.

Remember when Clinton first took office? He and AlGore went out to Portland for the spotted owl summit?
This Carp thing is far more damaging and destructive. Yet we do…..nothing.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on February 09, 2010 at 1500 hrsSpotted Owls, 2” smelt, Butler’s Garder Snakes, yup, yup, yup, none of them have been sighted as reason to halt one type of industry or another. Environmentalcases destroying industry. I rest my case.

Take a run by Red State - excellent piece on Murtha’s ‘slow bleed policy’ on getting our troops out of Iraq by shutting off their supply lines. Not many nice things to say about the guy.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on February 09, 2010 at 1720 hrsCox may be the next gov of Michigan. He has one issue, the carp. And he has a solution. Seal the canal. But the SCt won’t order it and Obama won’t either. So, I am certain the carp will establish a breeding population in Lake Michigan. The carp have been coming for years and the best the Corp of Engineers could do is a half @ssed electric gate. Sad.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on February 10, 2010 at 0151 hrsToo little WAY TOO LATE!
This was a known problem years ago and in true political fashion nothing was done about it until it became a crisis. Now it may be too late! I am by no means an eco-freak but we need to take care of our great lakes and all the people that make a living from it. This was completely preventable and it is probably already too late!
