I’ll go ahead and stick my neck out there…
Debates have long since ceased to be about what the candidates actually say. There are really only two measurements:
1) Expectations.
At this point, the expectations for Palin are extremely low. This is for two reasons. First, she has performed poorly on a couple of occasions (Couric interview) and the expectations are justified. Second, some folks have been deriding her for weeks and it’s having an effect.
2) Gaffes.
Most debates only have a couple of memorable moments and those are the gaffes. In this regard, Biden is the King. He may luck out and manage not to say something stupid, but history is against him.
Based on these two criteria, I think that Palin will come out as the marginal winner. She’ll probably hold her own.
That being said, the media is extremely anti-Palin and is likely to emphasize her failings and ignore Biden’s. The past few weeks of coverage confirms that fact (Roosevelt went on TV when the depression started???).
So what do you think?
“Roosevelt went on TV when the depression started???”
Humand and dinosaurs lived at the same time???
They’re both idiots, but which one is off by more?
Except that on of JIJAWM’s quotes referenced above actually happened, the other did not.

The dino thing is FALSE
Not the b.s. Moose email. This: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-palinreligion28-2008sep28,0,3643718.story?track=rss
I kind of want to go back to your article about how independents were flocking to McCain. Now they are to McCain as people were to the Titanic one night.
Remember those days?
That being said, the media is extremely anti-Palin
The conservative’s Pavlovian reaction to things going wrong for conservative candidates.
Did the liberal communist mainstream media turn all those conservative commentators at NRO against her?
I think you need to add a third criterion. The Zinger has been as much a part of the political debate in the TV Age as the Gaffe and Well-set Expectations.
“You, Sir, are no John Kennedy,” will live on long past the time most people can name Lloyd Bentsen.
