One Lucky Man

Via MadOgre.

Willie… fires a .50BMG, an Armalite AR-50 and it ricochets off of a steel plate that it should have easily penetrated. The bullet comes straight back and hits him in the head. You can see it hit the dirt about 15 feet in front on him before it clobbers him. Luckily he was uninjured… The range is 100 yards. Amazing.

No shit, amazing!  Guy needs to invest in some lottery tickets ASAP.  It sounds like an incoming artillery round.

  1. One reason why our BSA troop’s target-practice range is set up with iron plates behind the paper target, and the plates are at a 45 degree angle to the ground, with the top of the plate closer to the shooter.

Old method, based on (I would guess) military experience which is similar to what Bubba had here.

  2. HOLY CRAP!  Guy should feel pretty safe out in a lightning storm.  They might want to consider redesigning their range layout for safety. gulp

  3. That’s why I never shoot steel unless it’s sloped or spins easily.

  5. At least it didn’t hit a body part he was using.  Has he never heard of a deflecttion plate or of using sand as a backing.

  6. Reminds me if the old joke:  What is the last thing a redneck says before he dies?  “Hey, y’all, watch this!”
