This is the view that greeted me in the Detroit airport today.
Anyone want to lay odds on whether my flight was actually on time or not?
With Northwest, I’d vote no even on a clear day.
Having been held hostage by Northworst in Detroit I am sure they pushed away from the gate so they can say they were on time. Northworst loves to sit on the ramp for as long as they have to after they push off. I once sat for 5 hours and this was a trans Atlantic flight.
As you stated in your other post the American Airline industry is a joke the only other “business” that I can think of that gets away with being so inept is the Public Schools.
both could have the motto “Hell we get most of them there alive”
Too funny Recess! ![]()
People always laugh at me, but I like Detroit. Reminds me of Milwaukee in a lot of ways. But lake St. Clair is way more boater friendly than Lake Michigan.
A nice drive down Jefferson Ave. on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Perfect!!! And man just how many variations of Gross Pointe are there?
I digress.
As for your flight Owen. I see no reason why you should have been late. I mean could probably fly over the storms. But I have to agree with Recess Supervisor. I can’t get out of DTW on a clear day on time. If they have an excuse to be late I’d imagine they’d take advantage of it!
Actually… I WAS ON TIME!
I know, I was shocked too. It was a bumpy flight, though.
I know a former Northwest pilot that used to fly out of Detriot. He claimed the detriot bag handlers are by far the worst in the country, and one of the main causes of delays.
He told me a story once about a big delay and source of passenger entertainment caused by a fist fight between bag handlers loading a plane.
I will never go through Detroit. If I am flying to New York on Northwest, I will go to Minneapolis or Memphis first.
