Okay, I’ll Say It

image

Who came up with this ridiculous logo?  Was it someone in Coors’ Denver office and the result is why the new Miller-Coors marketing department is set to be located in Milwaukee?  Or, worse, is this the kind of marketing we can expect from Miller-Coors’ Milwaukee-based marketing?  Sigh.

According to the animation on the website, this appears to be how a glass of beer looks from above.  If you saw a beer this color, would you drink it?  Is this what happens when Coors made with pure mountain spring water” is made in Milwaukee with pure, blended Lake Michigan water?

Perhaps it’s just the Illinois influence on beer production.

  1. It doesn’t matter to me; I don’t drink that domestic crap.

I suppose Johnny Punchclock and Charlie Lunchpail needed an easy to understand picture of what they’re ordering.

  2. No, I wouldn’t drink a beer with this label, though I doubt they would put this logo on an actual beer.  It looks like the logos they print on the cups that you get with bad coffee.  Bad, expensive coffee actually.  Bad, expensive coffee that will require them to hire more marketers to convince me it’s actually good coffee.  I guess the new company plans to offer bad, expensive beer.

  3. It looks like something out of the ‘70s.

  4. They did choose a classic ‘70s font.  I look at that nearly empty glass and keep thinking the only thing missing is a cigarette butt in the bottom.

  5. Once you explain it you get the beer glass idea.  The problem is, you have to explain it.

  6. I agree with Big T...now I see the beer glass...but the logo is AWFUL.

  7. I’m still trying to figure out why the company chose Chicago, Illinois and not DFW. I thought businesses only expanded in or moved to red states with low taxes, concealed carry, and prayer in schools.

This and the Forbes article has me thinking there might often be other factors involved.

  8. The MillerCoors marketing dept will be based in Chicago. That’s were their media planning/buying agency is.

  10. As far as logo’s go, eh…

People rarely like a new logo.  Logos develop their identity over time.

For that reason I’ve never been a big fan of spending big dollars on a logo.  And I do wonder how much they spent to come up with THAT…

    I’ll guess between 10,000 and 50,000

Good work if you can get it
