Heh.
Some Illinois gun control advocates recall Senator Obama as a “friend” who represented a “solid vote” in favor of increased restrictions on firearm sales, but they said he was never forced to vote on an all-out ban on handguns as a member of the state Senate.
Mr. Obama’s position on guns is drawing renewed scrutiny following Wednesday night’s Democratic debate, when the Illinois senator said he never favored a handgun ban, even though a 1996 questionnaire in his name indicated he did.
The candidate questionnaire was filed with a nonprofit group, Independent Voters of Illinois–Independent Precinct Organization, during Mr. Obama’s first run for the state Senate. It asked candidates if they “support state legislation to … ban the manufacture, sale, and possession of handguns.” Mr. Obama’s typed response was “Yes.” His campaign later said a staffer filled out the form and unintentionally misrepresented Mr. Obama’s position.
Funny how these mysterious staffers keeps “misrepresenting” his positions for all of those years. If they were continually getting it wrong, one would think that Obama would have fired them. Should we be questioning Obama’s judgment when selecting employees? Or is Obama just lying about his positions?
As President, he would be appointing all sorts of people to positions of power. It bodes worse for us if it really is incompetent staffers and he is elected. In the end, the Prez takes the heat for his staff and he should, but I would rather see a virtual imbecile in the white house if he was somehow a good judge talent and character, than a visionary genius who can’t get people to implement his ideas(and no, this is not an inference that Obama is a visionary much less a genius). The staff does most of the work. Obama is a fool to blame his staffers and yet offer no public discipline or firings. His political enemies would be fools not to make a big issue out of it right along side his unfortunate choices of friends and mentors. They nicely tie together.
