Obamacare’s Arbitrary Rule

My column for the Daily News is online. It’s called, “Obamacare’s Arbitrary Rule.” Here’s a part:

If you agree with the president’s decision or not in this case, consider the implications. One man made these decisions. Under Obamacare, one man could also make the decision to end coverage for contraceptives for everyone. That one man could also decide that certain cancer treatments will be covered and not others. What happens when someone with whom you disagree occupies the White House?

  1. “Under Obamacare, one man could also make the decision to end coverage for contraceptives for everyone.”

Santorum would never be able to get that through even a Republican Hose and Senate.

As loser issues go, this is one of the loserest. Not even Catholics support it, regardless of what the fringe guys in the funny hats believe.

If we support liberty we should offer what the 99% support and allow the 1% to decline it of their own free will.

As for rationing coverage, we do that now. I’d rather it were more explicit.

  2. I meant ‘House’ of course. What Freud might make of that, I don’t know.

  3. Jim Jones…an appropriate moniker.

Yes, let’s explicitly ration care.  Who gets to decide when you get euthanized.  I vote for me.

  4. I’ll never understand the conservative fascination with death panels.

  5. Don’t worry about it, Jim, GMan is just a jerk who wants to kill anyone who disagrees with him.

  6. Poor VA…hyperbole much.  I figured you were smarter.  I guess I was wrong.  I don’t want to kill anyone that disagrees with me.  Just the ones that feel that way *first*.  I’m all for proportional response.  You treat me, or my views like crap, you get treated the same way in response.  You don’t like, stop being an ass, or siding with thugs.

  7. Oh, and as for the “death panels” thing.  What the hell do you call “explicitly rationing care”?  The “hugs and kisses” panels?  It’s amazing to me that some people don’t see the potential for horror that something like that has.  Seriously, would you want someone that not only has no real reason to want you to get medical treatment, and further may actually dislike your views enough to be deciding whether you get treated or not?  My statement above at #3 was specificially meant to provoke thinking about that aspect of things.  But instead got the typical liberal gibberish in reply.  I’m sorry if I hurt VA’s feelings or anything, but seriously, grow up.

  8. We ration care now. Today. Sheesh.

People will eat all manner of sausages so long as they don’t have to see how they’re made. That’s when all the problems come in.

  9. 8.We ration care now. Today. Sheesh.

Today’s “rationing” occurs from a number of factors, not our federal government.  HUGE difference.  HUGE.  You obviously don’t see how your sausage is being made.

  10. See GMan, you think anyone who doesn’t agree with you is a “thug.” That’s your problem. No room for disagreement whatsoever. Smart people can have different views on the same issue.
