  1. Bonus points for posting a video with Steve Doocy. That guy is comedy gold!

  2. McCain could pretty much win the election (or come close) if he was smart enough to use that segment in an ad and hammer home that scenario in the debate tomorrow night.

All McCain has to do is make an ad with that in it.  Run that ad and only that ad a million times the next three weeks.

But he’s not smart enough to do that.

  3. Steve - Could Obama win the election by spending the next 3 weeks talking about Palin’s $6 billion redistribution of wealth program she enacted as Governor of Alaska?

  4. So will all the resident obama-defenders finally concede after that quote that Obama is INDEED a socialist?

    Could it be any clearer?

McCain could pretty much win the election (or come close) if he was smart enough to use that segment in an ad and hammer home that scenario in the debate tomorrow night.

I’m not so sure… Human nature is such that people always think they’ve got it worse than someone else, and it seems that most people have a proclivity for envy of those who have more than they do.  So its really a numbers game for Obama and democrats for a while now (though it seems republicans are starting to pick up this dangerous trend)

And the secret is to just make sure that your campaign promises are such that the NUMBER of people who will get a payday from your being elected out numbers the number of people who are going to get screwed when you are elected allowing for the number of people whow might get a payday, but recognize long-term how bad for our economy and in the long run, for the people on the lower end those socialist policies would be.

  5. You don’t tell a plumber that you need to take some of his money to “spread the wealth around”.

It was a rare candid moment, because I didn’t hear Obama respond with “Do you make more than $250,000?  Probably not, so you’re getting a tax cut and don’t need to worry”

Must have been a Freudian slip on Obama’s part.

  6. Obama is a socialist - now he finally admits it.

  8. Notice how the Obamessiah equates income with wealth.

Posted by on October 14, 2008 at 0803 hrs

  9. And why can’t anyone in the MSM ask questions like this?  Or a follow-up question, such as “Senator Obama, you make millions, have you been sharing your wealth with the government according to your own tax plan, or have you been taking advantage of the lower tax rates of the Bush administration and keeping the money for yourself?” Hypocrite.

Posted by on October 14, 2008 at 0810 hrs

  10. Follow-up to #8 - Obama does not wish to plunder the plumbers’ wealth, we wants to steal the plumbers’ income. If you don’t know the difference, look it up.

Posted by on October 14, 2008 at 0813 hrs

  11. Yeah, I’m sure there is going to be a lot of wealth to spread around, as long as those hedge fund managers keep making the big bucks, and those corporate CEOs in the financial sector continue to get those $100,000,000+ bonuses/golden parachutes, etc..  If not, where will the money come from to give the bottom 95% of the population a tax break?  Redefine the wealthy as anyone making $100,000+ a year?

  12. The libs have been conspicuously, tellingly silent on this faux pas.

Posted by on October 14, 2008 at 0856 hrs

  13. Why can’t the drive by media ask questions like this?

Because they are “all in” for Obama. That should be pretty obvious.

They aren’t even attempting to hide it as they have done in the past.

Posted by on October 14, 2008 at 0948 hrs

  14. The drive by media IS Fox News.

BTW, I would love for McCain to run this clip as an ad.

  15. This is the big lie of socialist with their income redistrubution via taxation plans.

They rely on many false assumptions.  First, income tax misses the “true” wealth of this country. People who are ‘really’ rich make most of their income from capital gains, not wages.  Thus to quote Leona Helmsley “Only little people pay taxes”

Income taxes target the working ‘rich’ rolleyes  The segment of the population that deserves the fruits of their labor the most.  The segment of the population that is trying and succeeding in building a better life for themselves.

So when the average ‘gimme voter’ hears “oh the richest 5% are going to pay for my gift from the government” they are ok with that because they picture the billionaires in jets being the ones that pay more.  But its NOT the billionaires with capital up the ying yang that pay more… Its the WAGE earners who make high incomes that get hit the hardest.

These income tax policies that B.O. proposes will PROTECT the uber-rich and penalize the upper middle class that is trying to amass capital for themselves so that they don’t always have to be a working stiff beholden to the uber rich for their income.

I guess I don’t expect your average “gimme democrat” voter to understand this concept.  Because they make 50 grand and the guy across town makes 150 grand a year, that guy is “the rich guy”.

The second false assumption is that if you tax ‘the rich’ rolleyes they’ll just sit back and say “eh… fine, i’ll just work the same, make less and consider myself patriotic”

I don’t think so.  Life is about progression.  Its real easy to move up and move ahead, but its moving backwards that smacks you in the face hard.

Its easier to live with what you have then live WITHOUT something you had.

So when these socialists like Obama get elected, and start taxing the higher incomes to redistrubute the wealth, those people who are now working just as hard as they did the year before, but making less money, those people who are paying more in taxes while getting no more in services… The

  16. I think the other VERY telling part of Obamas comment is this:

He says ”Its not that I want to punish your success its just that I want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success too

BUT THAT’S NOT A CHANCE AT SUCCESS!

That plumber didn’t get rich because of redistrubution of wealth.  He got rich by hard work.

So for Obama to say that taking money from that plumber who found a way to start a business and earn his money the old fashioned way and GIVE it to the lower incomes, SOME WHO PAY NO TAX AT ALL ALREADY is a ‘chace at success’?  REALLY?

I’m very sorry Mr. Obama. If you think success comes from a hand-out from the working rich via government, you are sadly mistaken.  It shows how little YOU Mr. Obama know about hard work.

Yeah, Mr. Obama you talk about your “grandmother who taught you about hard work” in your commercials, but you didn’t learn anything.  You don’t know hard work B.O.

You know how to dangle the carrot for poor people and ride the coat-tails of their vote into the whitehouse.  You’re going to fool poor people into thinking success comes from kneeling down in front of the government teat and waiting for a check that came from the pocket of the working rich.

    Shameful

Why don’t you use your celebrity status and media darling favor to give people a real chance at success by telling them that success comes from WORKING, acquiring skills, advancing in your industry or using the skills you acquired working to take a RISK and start your own venture.

Or at the very least be an honest man, and tell “the poor” hey look, you aren’t ever going to be successful so the only way I’m gong to make your life better is to give you a freebie that I took from the working rich.

Don’t lie to the poor and tell them that this handout is “a chance at success”

  17. Lefty - what redistribution of wealth in Alaska are you mentioning?  Are you talking about the check that was sent to the citizens because the royalty fees were renegotiated with the oil companies for a larger percentage for the natural resources?

If so, that was neither a redistribution of wealth, nor a windfall profit tax as is popularly discussed.  Think of it like Menomonee Falls renting out the land for the landfill.  Or the quarries in Sussex.  For every truck full of stone pulled out of the quarries, Halquist, Lawson, et al have to pay a fee to the Village for the use of their natural resources.  That keeps the property taxes a bit lower out there.  Palin renegotiated the rates for those payments to Alaska and then gave back to the citizens.  Its a great idea.  Giving some benefit back to the land owners.

  18. potato, potahto

Then last year, Palin introduced a graduated tax pegged to increased oil prices. The state Legislature modified her proposal to increase the state’s take even further.

  19. Steve - Could Obama win the election by spending the next 3 weeks talking about Palin’s $6 billion redistribution of wealth program she enacted as Governor of Alaska?

Hm.  A commercial talking about what the Republican candidate for Vice-President - a position with one real role - has done in the past.  Versus a few seconds of the Democratic candidate for President talking candidly to a member of the working class a few days ago.

Yes -I think Senator Obama should run that.  Because that he doesn’t really need that pesky lead in the polls that he has right now.

  20. #8 and #10.

Yes and how is it that people don’t understand this?

  21. Sweet!  So on inauguration day, I can quit my jobs, start watching TV and playing video games all day.  I’m in, give me $50,000 a year because it would be unfair to not do so and allow me to be left behind.  I’ve always dreamt of retirement at 30.  Vote Obama for free money.

  22. This is how dumb the American people are.  According to Rasmussen, 47% agree with Obama on this and they say it will actually help the economy.  No wonder he is winning.

  24. This is how dumb the American people are

This is why when I hear the montra that we need to ‘get out the vote’ I just shake my head.

Its not enough for people to vote.  In fact, uninformed people voting is worse than if they had not voted at all.  First they need to educate themselves.  That starts not with listening to what these candidates say NOR what the candidates say their policies will result in, but with a good solid study of economics.  THEN listen to what they promise and you’ll know what the result WILL be (not what they say it will be)

This of course will never happen.  We are screwed.  I predict whomever wins this election (I’m 99% certain it will be Obama) will send us down an uninhibited slide to very socialist policies and as history has shown, our government rarely reverses trends.

John McCain isn’t the voice who’s going to be able to sell the truth, but oh for someone to be at the next debate to look the american people in the eye and tell them “You WILL get change america.  America is about to change in ways you can’t phathom.  Be careful what you wished for”

  25. but oh for someone to be at the next debate to look the american people in the eye and tell them “You WILL get change america.  America is about to change in ways you can’t phathom.  Be careful what you wished for”

Except for the simple fact that the majority of the electorate wants a “change” domestically.

What most cannot bring themselves to understand or believe is that the big CHANGE in process is a realignment of America’s position globally.

All the current financial gyrations and band aids are a perfect example of this disconnect.

This reality is usually portrayed and shouted down as being Anti-American.

    Jack said it best.

  26. Except for the simple fact that the majority of the electorate wants a “change” domestically.

Well I agree that everyone wants a change.

    I want change.

I’m sure that the change wanted by the people clamoring for more socialism who think government is going to give them a better life out of the pocket of ‘the rich’ is FAR different than the change many others of us want.

Thats the lie Obama has sold.  That all these people need is a guy like HIM to use the power of the government to “make things fair”.

The theory behind socialist forms of government is suppose to be all stars and roses.  The theory behind communism is suppose to be all utopian.  “everyone equal” gosh.. sounds so great.

None of those great theory’s ever account for the reality of greed, power, free will and the fact that to quote milton freidman “There ARE NO ANGLES out there” to administer this “fairness”

We have watched government grow and grow and grow over the last 75 years.  Republican presidents, democratic presidents.  Government has become larger and larger and intertwined into more and more parts of our lives…

And now to hear people say we need a change.  YES WE DO.  But to hear them say that change is MORE government?  How can that be?  If we are not better off than we were 20, 30, 50 years ago, and we have exponentially more government than we did 20, 30, 50 years ago, Who in their right mind thinks “more” government is going to change the direction of our country?

Can we try freedom for once?

I’ve seen this all my life.  The guy flipping burgers at McDonalds thinks the owner of that franchise is living high on the hog at the expense of the little burger flipper.

Oh what a better world it would be if all the burger flippers of the world could be gifted with the lifestyle more like that of the owner.

And we’ve got a presidential candidate (likely the next president) who’s fanned the flames of class warfare and made a splash by appealing to peoples proclivity to see themselves as victims and he’s gonna ride that wave right to the whitehouse.

I’m afraid we are at a tipping point.  I predict people will look back at this time in our history as a time when we changed from a society
