Obama Might Possibly Maybe Support Offshore Drilling

Heh.  Read this:

“My interest is in making sure we’ve got the kind of comprehensive energy policy that can bring down gas prices,” Obama said in an interview with The Palm Beach Post.

“If, in order to get that passed, we have to compromise in terms of a careful, well thought-out drilling strategy that was carefully circumscribed to avoid significant environmental damage — I don’t want to be so rigid that we can’t get something done.”

Here are some words that Obama needs to define before his statement can mean anything at all:

“compromise”
“careful”
“well thought-out”
“carefully circumscribed”
“significant”
“environmental damage”

There are so many qualifications and conditions in that statement as to mean absolutely nothing other than Obama is feeling the heat on this issue and wants to appear less like a nutty liberal.

  1. I also loved this quote:

“The Republicans and the oil companies have been really beating the drums on drilling,” Obama said in the Post interview. “And so we don’t want gridlock. We want to get something done.”

No, you don’t want gridlock, do you?  And of course it’s all about the Republicans and the oil companies.  It has nothing whatsoever to do about the overwhelming support that drilling now has in this country.

What a piece of work this guy is.  Oops, is that racist??

Careful, Owen, the last democratic president required a definition of the word, “is,” too. They’re a pretty thorough folk.

  3. I’m sure it was just another clarification or expansion of his earlier remarks.  If you would just go to his website, it would all be clear…

  4. I’m afraid Mr.Obama is preaching to a choir that has been served Kool-aid.  Obama has maximized those that are dumb enough, racist enough, co-opted enough, or socialist enough to want to believe his junior high school quality rhetoric.  He has no qualifications for the job, but then again, America is his board of directors, and even idiots get to vote.  There is a surprising percentage of the American public, that either agrees with Obama, or votes because they are demonstrably stupid.  And that is what we are up against.

  5. “compromise”
    “careful”
    “well thought-out”
    “carefully circumscribed”
    “significant”
    “environmental damage”

I wonder if Obama can use any of these words in a sentence, without the aid of a teleprompter?

  6. This issue is a winner for McCain.  Drill, Drill, Drill will at least bring down (and maybe already has) the price of oil.

We can afford to be environmentalists at $2 a gallon but not at $4. It is interesting to see how this tipping point has occurred this summer.

The only thing I’m surprised at is that McCain didn’t lead with ANWR rather than off-shore.  It would seem to me to make more sense to start with ANWR being opened than the offshore stuff that would draw the ire of more constituents along the coasts.
