Obama Lying About Premiums

Ahem.

Buyers, beware: President Barack Obama says his health care overhaul will lower premiums by double digits, but check the fine print.

Premiums are likely to keep going up even if the health care bill passes, experts say. If cost controls work as advertised, annual increases would level off with time. But don’t look for a rollback. Instead, the main reason premiums would be more affordable is that new government tax credits would help cover the cost for millions of people.

Listening to Obama pitch his plan, you might not realize that’s how it works.

Visiting a Cleveland suburb this week, the president described how individuals and small businesses will be able to buy coverage in a new kind of health insurance marketplace, gaining the same strength in numbers that federal employees have.

“You’ll be able to buy in, or a small business will be able to buy into this pool,” Obama said. “And that will lower rates, it’s estimated, by up to 14 to 20 percent over what you’re currently getting. That’s money out of pocket.”

And that’s not all.

  1. Obama’s Lying.  So what’s new?  He’s a politician - that’s what they do.

  2. It may be cheaper for some…but more expensive for others.

  3. Nah, it’ll likely be more expensive for everyone.

  4. Fear not… when the premiums rise too high, Obama will simply cap wages for health care workers and reduce services to a more manageable level.

  5. Obama is not lying: Premiums will go down.  The cost of health care will go down.  Everyone will be covered by The Plan.  It’s just that The Plan will not cover all treatments.  Don’t get bogged down in the details.  I know they say that the devil is in the details but he’s not hiding there this time.  He is slapping us in the face with broad, nice sounding but ugly truths.  WAKE UP America!

  6. You want this crap of a health care bill - move to Canada where you wait for 3 years to get a hip replacement. If you know of anyone who has had a hip replacement they will tell you that the pain is so bad that when you wake up from the surgery (even after they slice you all up) the pain is less.

But hey - I guess the aspirin will be free.

That’s how you lower health care - by rationing it.

  7. Obama is just as dishonest as the 2,700 page health bill they plan to shove down our throats.

I read that all rules to regulate the health care plan will be up to government administrators because there are none from our law-makers in the bill.

Isn’t it nice to know that our lawmakers do not read the bill or make the rules for it?

  8. I don’t know why everyone has their undies in a bundle.  No one with any common sense whould be worried. If the healthcare bill goes through, conservatives will be elected in the mid-term elections by an overwelming number, and will save America by repealling the bill. We will then go back to the free nation we once were.

  9. Sorry Pat - That’s a lot of “if” statements.

I’d prefer the more definite KILL THE BILL NOW

  10. Not true Pat. Conservatives would need a super majority in the Senate, and even then, they may not be able to reverse things. Obama will certainly veto any legislation produced by a Republican congress and his willing co-conspirators in the media would do a full court press on the issue.

Better to end the thing now, I agree with neomom.

Let’s also note that if the House passes this bizarre rules change and then institutes a law that was never actually voted on, we may be in for a constitutional crisis.

So easy to say, so hard to prove true or false.

Christ, folks here are complete rhetorical retards.

  12. Well if they can’t stop it now, it will still be a non issue. Every democrat that voted for it will be voted out of office.  You all know that the conservatives are going to have landslide wins in the mid-terms and become majority.  And, in another couple years they’ll have the majority in the house and senate and we will have a Republican President. We won’t have to worry about partisan politics any more. Everything will be set back in order again and life will be good again.  I for one can’t wait.

  14. Poor little communist Georgie.

Hey, jackass, how about you take some economics classes and get back to us when you’ve actually managed to increase your IQ above the teens?  Thanks, bye.

  15. I’m watching the Brett Baier interview on FoxNews website at the moment.  I think Baier just made his career.

LOL at Obama now telling the Baier that the vast majority of America will have better and cheaper healthcare after the bill passes.

Shocking, George interjecting with NO point, NO refutation, and NO intelligence.

    Typical liberal namecalling empty suit.

Whether or not this bill will do what the President claims does not change that the insurance mandate is unconstitutional, and price controls have never had a positive effect in this country before, they simply result in shortages (gas?), more powerful special interests (ethanol?), and crony capitalism (milk anyone?)....

  17. Oh, it’s no problem to make health-insurance premium COSTS “cheaper.”

Just don’t look at your Federal tax bill—or the national debt numbers.
