Obama “Explains” Biden Comment

Biden is going to provide all sorts of entertainment for the next few years.

Pity poor Joe Biden. His “there’s still a 30 percent chance we’re going to get it wrong” quote is put straight to President Barack Obama during the White House press conference just now and his boss seemed to want to say: “Vice-President Who?”

As reporters started giggling, Obama came close to conceding that Biden was indeed a joke. “You know, I don’t remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly.”

The President went on to say that “I think what Joe may have been suggesting, although I wouldn’t ascribe any numerical percentage to any of this, is that given the magnitude of the challenges that we have, any single thing that we do is going to be part of the solution, not all of the solution.”

Of course, Biden wasn’t saying anything of the sort - Obama knew that and all the rest of us did too.

At least picking Biden gave Obama “gravitas” and secured the great state of Deleware for the Democrats.

  1. Its kind of ironic… While Joe Biden is getting thrown under the bus for this and being painted as a bumbler…

HE’S DEAD FUCKING RIGHT! (assuming he’s talking about the reach-around… er I mean stimulus package)

The chances of getting it wrong are WAY up there.  In fact, I think he UNDERestimated odds of failure when he said 30%!

Glad you are feeling “optimistic” that this will be a humerous diversion in that Dan Quayle sort of way.  My ability to find this stuff humerous is impaired by the fact that unfortunately he and “Ofumbla” have a country to lead.

To expand on the points made by XXpilot, is this not yet another attempt by Biden to diminish expectations of what Obama is capable of doing?  Or possibly a “pre-emptive” move - as I recall, the context of Biden’s comments was that this stimulus package was going to provide prime political advantageous material for Republicans going into the mid-term elections.
