Obama Changes

Well, that didn’t take long

A presidential seal graphically altered with symbols representing Barack Obama’s campaign of change was just for one-time use and will not be used again, a spokeswoman for the Democrat’s campaign said Monday.
The seal, with its blue background and an eagle in the center clutching arrows and an olive branch, evoked the official presidential version, but had been altered with a new Latin phrase, instead of the original “E pluribus unum,” which means, “Out of many, one.”

Obama’s campaign changed the phrase to “Vero possumus,” which can be roughly translated to his “Yes, we can” slogan. The seal also featured his “O” campaign logo covering the eagle’s body, instead of a shield.

When the altered seal was unveiled last Friday in Chicago, it raised eyebrows and prompted comments about how presidential it looked. The Republican National Committee gleefully ridiculed it as a prop.

I guess that’s one way to enact change.

  1. I wonder what the national hand salute will be when he is elected dictator. Thank God he’ll eliminate the opposition party, because that whole voting thing can be so tedious and mean.

(funny - my captcha word for this post is, “soviet.” wink )

  2. I’m wondering what on earth you’re babbling about, Fuzz.

  3. I’m saying that the pompous bastard is pretending he’s president already, without so much as an election.

Like Jon Stewart said, last night, “Yes We Can…. but we probably shouldn’t.”

  4. Oh for crying out loud!  Will you people just pipe down and let Obama be President already?!  Sheesh.

  5. “Vero possumus”, which could also could be read to mean: “truly, when threatened we play dead.”

  6. Pelican, he’s going to be president whether you “pipe down” or not.  You better get used to the idea and sharpen your attack skills up to Bill Clinton levels.

With regard to the logo?  Presumptuous and dumb.  I hope the person responsible for it gets fired.

Seriously, though.  You guys better get some better dirt.  This is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.  Doesn’t his wife have some drug addiction in her past or anything?  Stealing medicine from poor children or anything like that?

  7. scott - I’m being ironical.  No need for me to sharpen anything.  In fact, my comments are reflective of the over-confidence many liberals, such as yourself, are exhibiting these days.

My question is this: If Obama and the Democrats do not do as well as the liberals say is already a foregone conclusion, who will you blame?

You’ll need to start sharpening your blaming skills if your collective crystal balls start to get a little cloudy.

Nota bena: Is the podium sold seperately, or does it come with the Obama action figurine?

  8. If Obama and the Democrats do not do as well as the liberals say is already a foregone conclusion, who will you blame?

I guess that would depend on what happens between now and then.  Sensible?  I mean, if I get into a car accident next week, do I know who’s fault it was today?

Anyway, I’m not much of a gambler but I’d make you a bet that Obama wins.  If you really think I’m being overconfident, here’s your chance to demonstrate what you really believe.

  9. It’s not what I think, it’s what you said:

Pelican, he’s going to be president whether you “pipe down” or not.

The fact that you’re already back-peddling from your previous post demonstrates to me what you believe.  And still, my question is valid: Who. Will. You. Blame?

  10. Back pedaling?  I just offered to bet you he wins.  So take the bet or STFU.

As far as blaming someone if he doesn’t “do as well” as I believe he will, I maintain that your question is irrational: how can I know who or what to blame for something that hasn’t happened yet?  Especially for something that I believe will not happen in the first place.

  11. how can I know who or what to blame for something that hasn’t happened yet?

Too bad scott is so self-deluded that he won’t realize the supreme irony of this.

  12. I have no doubt that Obama will be president. If unlikely event that he doesn’t win, though, I can just imagine the cries of, “the Republicans stole another election.”

  13. (should have read “in the unlikely event…”)

Posted by Fuzz on June 24, 2008 at 1457 hrs

  14. I’ll cry “the Republicans stole another election”—if indeed that’s what occurred.  But I’m not really anticipating that at all.  Polling place shenanigans might be handy in a tight race, but this one’s not going to be that close in the first place.

Posted by scott on June 24, 2008 at 1459 hrs

  15. Hmm.  Now you’re just being nasty, and a bit forgetful.  You said, “He’s going to be president…”

You didn’t lay a wager, or say you did or didn’t know what might happen, or remark “I believe he will be president.”

You made a pronouncement: “He’s going to be president”

So either you accept your own words, or you STFU.

    Here endeth the lesson.

  16. Yeah, right.  And it depends on what the meaning of the word “is” is.

Just take the bet or observe the first rule of holes: when you’re in one, stop digging.
