Obama Car Tsar Drives a Honda

Tone deaf much?

Nope. Deese, the 31-year-old tour de force behind President Obama’s Auto Task Force, has been seen tooling around town in a car that might make board members of General Motors shudder: He drives a Honda, whose manufacturer is based in Japan.

One source describes Deese’s car as an “old, old, old silver Honda Civic two-door hatchback.”

Another tells us Deese’s two-toned Honda was never properly repainted after the new auto whiz got into an accident a few years ago. The car still has Connecticut plates, a relic of his recent days at Yale Law School.

  1. And lots of “American” cars are made in Canada and Mexico.  Was this Honda made in America?  Maybe the press can hound him for the VIN.

  2. Wow. This is some very tired reporting here. I would take more umbrage with some of the other items in the story, like those more related to Deese’s experience. The whole “He drives a Honda, whose manufacturer is based in Japan” is kind of tired. How many Hondas are assembled in Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee, etc?

I mean seriously, he states in the article that “he has never set foot in an assembly plant” and yet we are focused on his vehicle of choice. Insightful.

  5. OTOH, if he’s supposed to be the guy saving US auto companies, shouldn’t he be driving a GM, Chrysler or Ford?  Seems like the administration would be savvy enough to hook him up with a Malibu…or maybe even a Nitro?

  6. He’d be a perfect candidate for cash for clunkers if it weren’t for the fact that the Democrats only want to help out the tiny fraction of people who are driving cars that meet their criteria.

Why? That’s like saying if I’m supposed to be helping an inept doctor re-learn how to perform heart surgery, I should allow him to work on my own heart. No way.

  9. I hear those 15 year old cars are too environmentally friendly.  I wonder what his global warming tsar has to say about that?
