Obama Campaign Blackballs WFTV After Biden Gets Tough Questions

Thin skin much?

West wondered about Sen. Barack Obama’s comment, to Joe the Plumber, about spreading the wealth. She quoted Karl Marx and asked how Obama isn’t being a Marxist with the “spreading the wealth” comment.

“Are you joking?” said Biden, who is Obama’s running mate. “No,” West said.

West later asked Biden about his comments that Obama could be tested early on as president. She wondered if the Delaware senator was saying America’s days as the world’s leading power were over.

“I don’t know who’s writing your questions,” Biden shot back.

Biden so disliked West’s line of questioning that the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate’s wife.

“This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

  1. Speaking of the media, where is the big post about Ashley Todd fabricating a big black boogie-man to race-bait in Penn?  After all, you had a field day with the teenage girl who made up allegations of racist harassment at her high school.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but I am sure your readers will have many explanations at the ready as to why AT (and the Republican flacks who whipped her story into a frenzy) would act as she did - they sure had explanations for the teenage girl and her mother.

  2. For being a newbie around here, you sure are… verbose.

Clearly the girl is an unstable freak and some GOP operatives were far too fast to believe her story.  I never posted on the original story because my bullshit meter was off the charts.

  3. Verbose and bored right now.  But your BS meter was pretty off the charts with the other story, too - as I recall, it sounded fishy to you immediately.

I’m about to head home, so I won’t be posting for awhile.  See y’all tomorrow. wink

  4. Jeez, Owen, did you see the interview?  What kind of cheap hack was she?—asking if he knew the “from each according to his means” BS.  He sat still for it pretty well, I think.  He should have let her have it right there.  But I fully understand why the campaign wasn’t going to subject anyone else to this nonsense.  Screw ‘em.

  5. Sort of reminiscent of McCain throwing a snit when his campaign spokesman got asked some tough questions.

Or trying to protect his running mate from talking to those big, bad reporters, for that matter.

If they can’t handle the press, how are they going to handle our enemies?

  6. If they can’t handle the press, how are they going to handle our enemies?

Good question, maybe someone should hit “Plugs” up with that one.  From his reaction to a lowly local news reporter, he sure didn’t seem ready to me.

I guess, better late than never, the MSM is finally asking BO and company some tough questions.

  7. Watching the interview the reporter didn’t project the attitude I would expect when interview a US senator - BUT the essence of her questions were ones that Biden should have been able to answer without getting PO’d at the reporter.

I agree - with the spit hits the spam - is this how he is going to react also?

And - I think it is very childish to “ban” the station from further interviews. You are running for the US presidency, not lunch room supervisor.

  8. Clearly the girl is an unstable freak

Stacy McCain reports that the PAUL campaign tossed her out, she was so wacky…

  9. Such a feel-good story. Nobody’s right.

I watched the complete interview, and the reporter was completely unprofessional. She was so condescending in asking him about Marx, and pretty much through the whole interview, and every question sounded as if it came from the mcCain campaign. I actually thought Biden came off pretty well.

Then the campaign had to go and cut the station off. Kinda lame, if you ask me.

    I agree

What kind of cheap hack was she

I saw the interview… I thought they were legit questions.

Bout time someone called a spade a spade.

Of course considering the questions John McCain got asked when he was on the view… Whoopie Goldberg asks “Am I gonna have to be a slave again”

Man you democrats really get your panties in a twist when the tables are turned. (though I’d argue the questions asked of Biden were far more applicable than the bullshit McCain got lobbed at him on the view)

  11. Got a little problem with a Democrat who fights back? Better get used to it.

Barbara West was being anything but a professional journalist with her comparison to communism, not meant to find something out but to whip up the Florida wingers. And here are the marshmallows she offered up to McCain—http://www.wftv.com/video/17712615/index.html .

BTW—in case you noticed, Whoopie is not employed as a professional journalist.

Oh, surprise, surprise. Her husband is a GOP consultant—http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/26/133722/20/1016/642755 For t.hose of you who belch butter tears about the liberal media, you’ve got local news to carry your water every evening at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00.

Since when have you guys had a problem with politicians not answering questions? You lauded Palin for just parroting talking points during her debate, to the point of her classless come-back after Biden’s emotional recounting of his wife’s death.

Speaking of class. xxpilot is becoming xxxpilot with his out of control swearing. Walls closing in?

  12. You libs just can’t handle it when the tables are turned. For example - screaming headlines about Palin’s wardrobe, yet chirping crickets about the messiah’s constitutional spreading the wealth comment(s).

  13. BTW—in case you noticed, Whoopie is not employed as a professional journalist.

    Oh sure…

And the hacks on SNL aren’t ‘professional journalists’ either.

And Jay Leno and David Letterman aren’t professional journalists either, but you’d better believe those people have as much or more influence on public opinion and the election as news anchors.

    out of control swearing.

Out of control swearing?  Really?  I said “bullshit”

I’m sure your virgin ears have heard worse.

  14. Hey Keith… Since you’re the language police now, There is multiple uses of the word “bullshit” in this thread.  I wonder if the “walls are closing in on them” also?

    http://www.bootsandsabers.com/index.php/weblog/permalink/penn_and_teller_on_obama/

What is it with you Keith?  You’ve got a stalker-man-crush on me or something?  Get over it.  You’re not my type.

  15. A cottage industry has grown out of debunking the liberal bias in the media.  To believe that bias doesn’t exist is delusional.

The media has two investigative modes depending on who they want to go after.  Did John Edwards cheat on his wife?  Do we really know who BHO is?  How much did the DNC pay for Biden’s wardrobe?

  16. And for the record.  It’s the liberals that can’t take the heat.  Who has the McCain campaign blackballed?

  17. I thought Biden came off great in the interview.  It wasn’t that the questions were unfair, they were just phrased in a ridiculous manner.  I think the campaign overreacted in their letter informing them Biden’s wife wouldn’t be available.  They could have done that much lower key.

  18. How much press access has the McCain campaign given Sarah Palin?

Posted by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on October 27, 2008 at 1035 hrs

  19. Keith, Palin does not have time to do tedious interviews. She’s way too busy shopping for clothes to donate to charity.

  20. That’s right Jo Mamma; endless coverage of Palin’s waredrobe in the MSM. Obama’s socialist statements…naw, unimportant.

Posted by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on October 27, 2008 at 1317 hrs

  21. Um, Terry?  Maureen Dowd and Joe Klein specifically.  Most of the rest of the National Press by neglecting to give access.

I thought Joe was absolutely correct in his derision of this wannabe Geraldo.  The anchorette came riding in on a high horse and got knocked off in a rather quick hurry.  Also, if you look at some of the compilations, this anchor had at least two and maybe three interviews with the Senator and was just as silly in each.

Even Joe Biden has a limit to the crap he’s willing to put up with.
