Obama Administration to Fight Release of Pictures

Good for Obama.

US President Barack Obama has changed his mind and will now attempt to block the publication of photographs showing the abuse of prisoners by US soldiers.

The US government had previously said it would not fight a court ruling ordering the release of the pictures.

Mr Obama now believes the release of the photos would make the job of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan more difficult, White House officials said.

  1. Gee once they are actually responsible for this stuff - the tune starts to change…

Frankly I thought it was terrible to have the pictures made public. Here is a poor family with their deceased loved one on display for the whole world.

Let’s show a little class for those who have fallen in the line of duty, and their families.

    Way to go Barry!

  2. I do appreciate an executive who when faced with the facts and solid arguments will change his mind. “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”

So, with that said, does that change your opinion of Bush and the previous administration?

No. While I did not like many things about the Bush administration, I also don’t really care for the endless piling on. At least Bush 43 has shown some class in getting off the stage. Cheney should do likewise. Time to move on.

I agree.  I was just wondering, and it’s more of a general question to the previous administration haters…  I think Obama got a lot of support by his “When I’m prez… here’s things I’m going to do differently than Bush has done…”  and we’re finding out that as he’s gotten the job he’s changed.  Whether it’s intentional or because of things he’s learned since gaining that spot, I’m always curious if it changes anything about the thoughts of the previous admin…
