Nuance Buys SNAPin

Well… this is interesting.

Speech recognition technology supplier Nuance Communications Inc (NUAN.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) plans to buy customer service technology supplier SNAPin for $180 million in an all stock deal that lets it cash in on growing demand from mobile operators for more automated customer service options.

Nuance said on Tuesday that privately-owned SNAPin, which sells software that helps mobile operators handle customer queries more easily via cell phone, would add $19 million to $22 million to its revenue in its fiscal year 2009, which starts in October 2008.
