Nearly a Third of Karzai’s Ballots Ruled Invalid

What is this?  Ohio?

U.N.-backed fraud investigators on Monday threw out nearly a third President Hamid Karzai’s votes from the country’s disputed August election. The findings set the stage for a runoff between him and his top challenger.

It was unclear, however, whether the Afghan-led Independent Election Commission would accept the findings of the fraud panel and announce a runoff. Karzai’s spokesman said it was too soon to make a judgment based on the figures released by the panel.

  1. I wonder how they were able to verify that the votes were invalid.  It sounds like the Afghans have a much more sophisticated verification system than we do in Wisconsin.

  2. Good to see all that voting has made a difference and no one could ever change the results one way or the other.  Voting could never be tampered with.  Ever.  Maybe they should have another popularity contest, I mean election, so they can have more news stories!

  3. We would probably have the same results if we recounted our ballots, with Acorn’s help of coarse.
