OK, I asked it below, but I’ll go ahead and put my balls on the line….
I think that the turnout tomorrow on the school referendum tomorrow will be 35%. And I think that the referendum will fail 65% to 35%.
Let the votes be counted.
Man i hope your right! This spend crazy trend in school, local and state budgets is getting old. Of course there is little hope that these boards and the legislature will ever change.
Hope you’re right…especially for your sake.
Me too, but I’m usually pretty bad at predicting elections
In general, I think that the higher the turnout it, the more soundly the referendum will be defeated. If turnout is down around 15% or so, I think it will pass.
I hope that holds true for the Sun Prairie referendum, which is about $100 million. But so close to Madistan, I am concerned it may be a win-lose night for taxpayers.
From JSOnline:
West Bend - Voter turnout in one city district for today’s special election on a $119.3 million school building referendum had exceeded 30% by 3 p.m. and the city clerk ordered additional ballots for the district.
Clerk Barbara Barringer forecast a 30% turnout in the city but voters in district #3 on the city’s southwest side had swarmed into a City Hall polling place in even greater numbers than that before the expected evening rush, Barringer said.
All polls in the district are open until 8 p.m.
The building plan proposes construction of three new schools in the district and the renovation of others. If approved by voters today, it would be the largest-ever school building referendum in Wisconsin.
