Mugabe To Continue Racist Land Seizures

Of course, property redistribution and the nationalization of companies are becoming quite fashionable

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has vowed to continue seizing land from white farmers after a spate of “farm invasions” over the past month.

Speaking at a rally to celebrate his 85th birthday, he also promised to push for majority Zimbabwean ownership of companies operating in the country.

Mugabe supporters raised $250,000 (£176,000) for a lavish birthday party in Chinhoyi, north-west of Harare.

Zimbabwe asked African states for $2bn (£1.4bn) in economic aid just days ago.

Mr Mugabe said the new government would continue to push for a majority stake in companies operating in Zimbabwe.

“We would want to see a greater participation of our people in them, not less than 51%, in certain companies we would have designated,” he said.

The birthday celebrations come as Zimbabwe struggles with the world’s highest inflation, food shortages and a cholera epidemic which the World Health Organisation says has killed 3,894 people since August last year.

The WHO reports more than 84,000 cholera cases in Zimbabwe

There have been more than 84,000 reported cases, says the WHO.

More than half the population is believed to need food aid, while just 10% of adults have a regular job.

  1. Mugabe is the best example of why wealth redistribution has never worked in the past and will never work in the future.

Take the farm away from the evil white “rich” guys, and give it to the “oppressed” who happen to be Migabe’s friends, and watch everybody starve. This is a UN fairytale come true.

  2. Just back from South Africa this year.  South africans hope that this will be great lesson for the world so that it does not happen in other countries round there.  The countries of Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique are spending large amounts of money to lure the white farmers from Zimbabwe and SA to their countries and they are succeeding.  SA is slowly breaking down.
Good example: when I was there the electricity was on only half a day.  We went down street in EASt London and the electicricty was on at one end of the Mercedes plant and at the other end the stop lights didn’t work.
Seems that after the 1994 revolution the incoming powers fired all of the engineers that built the system and hired their cronies to run the electric companies.  Need less to say everything is breaking down.
I could go on but only the world can stop this disaster on the way.
