Mrs. Obama’s Thesis

Indeed.

All I have to say is I wish I could have written a 96 page thesis on my white-ness. How absurd.

  1. Is there an argument that can be made that if Wisconsin foregoes available federal dollars that Wisconsin taxpayers can see a reduction in their federal tax burden?  Because until someone can make a rational argument that this will happen, your repeated arguments against Wisconsin getting more back in federal tax dollars than it sends to DC seems ridiculous.

  2. I guess to a “Lefty”, it would seem ridiculous.
(and I think you put this in the wrong place)

I’ll go ahead and give a short explanation a try.

A general, guiding principle for conservatives is fairness.  Not “feel good” fairness like the left enjoys.  You know, the kind where they decide that you have enough and don’t “need” any more and it’s unfair if you get more.

Real fairness is the kind of fairness that says you shouldn’t take more than you put in.  You shouldn’t receive more than you give.  That’s why things like higher taxes on people that have been more successful do not make sense to conservatives.  It also answers your question.  The state of Wisconsin shouldn’t get back more than it puts in.  It’s pretty basic, but that is really it.

Now, if you’ll go to the proper post (the one that you meant to post this in) and please answer my question.

  3. Try writing something more than 96 words.

    Come on Owen.

Please see Miss Ham’s “Smearology” at least she is appealing.

  4. pjr,

As to the “96 words” comment, I write a weekly column of 700+ words every week and posts that occasionally cross that threshold.  The fact that I also put up quite a few posts with little commentary should be permissible in the face of such verboseness on my part.

As to the comment itself, I think the point is valid.  It’s more of a testament to our current culture than to Mrs. Obama herself, but it’s worth noting that I, as a white guy, would never get away with submitting a thesis about my experience as a white guy.  Do you disagree?

  5. The 96 word comment was for little miss sunshine(talk about a misnomer). I’m surprised she knows how to spell thesis. She obviously doesn’t get what the process is about.

I, as a white guy, would never get away with submitting a thesis about my experience as a white guy.  Do you disagree?

Did you actually write this post?

Everything you, or I for that matter, emanates from being a white guy.

I know you get it, stop posturing.

  6. Oh and Diebert, please explain this,

Real fairness is the kind of fairness that says you shouldn’t take more than you put in.  You shouldn’t receive more than you give.

for someone who gets a $400 million dollar retirement package?

Did they invent the wheel? Harness fire?

  7. Oops,

    Forgot to add “about”

Everything “about” you, or I for that matter, emanates from being a white guy.

  8. Everything “about” you, or I for that matter, emanates from being a white guy.

Agreed.  I’m a white guy, so obviously that it my perspective.  So do you think I could write my college these on my “white guy perspective” and get a pass?

  9. “thesis” not “these”

    Spell checker isn’t foolproof.

  10. Agreed.  I’m a white guy, so obviously that it my perspective.  So do you think I could write my college these on my “white guy perspective” and get a pass?

If you wrote one, and your thesis committee gave you the nod, isn’t the answer obvious?

A thesis demonstrates that you have learned a process.

That’s it, nothing more in most cases.

How many Louis Pasteur’s do you think we have running around?

I guarantee there isn’t one within a 50 mile radius of the White House!

  11. Pir,

Right.  Jesse, and Al would be standing out front with the bullhorn just after he handed the thesis in.

The only way Owen could get away with this, is if he was a liberal “WHITE” professor, and his point was that 911 was caused by George Bush.

Liberals spout their “truth”, but they dont want to hear THE truth..
