Motorcyclist Killed After Hitting Deer

Ouch.

A motorcyclist was killed near Mayville after striking a deer early today.

The 23-year-old man was driving his motorcycle south on Highway Y near Farmersville Road in the Town of Leroy about 1:55 a.m. when he collided with a deer that had walked onto the road, according to a Dodge County Sheriff’s Department press release.

The motorcycle went off the road, flipped, and ejected the man who died at the scene, the release said.

This reminded me of this video, where the driver fared much better:

  1. I came upon a motorcycle-deer accident shortly after it happened. My mother saw it.

A man & a woman in light clothing & no brain buckets were sprawled out on the road. He was moaning & groaning bad. She was face down in a pool of blood non-resp. However, she came to, spit a couple of teeth out and lit up a smoke. The rescue squad came and dude had some broken ribs (both had some road rash).

The deer was put out of its misery by my father.

AFAIK, the two people turned out to be okay.

  2. Deer are such a pain- got hit by deer while riding my bicycle, got hit by a deer when my car wasn’t moving and totaled out 2 cars.
Deer-motorcycle accidents are more common than you think, especially up north and central WI.
BTW, amazing what you tube and technology has done in the past few years.
