We have more action on my call for Assembly Republicans to pledge that you will not vote for a budget that includes any tax increases or any fee increases that aren’t directly related to the cost of delivering the service.
Rep. Nygren has made this pledge to the taxpayers and reminded me of his previous pledge to his constituents:
“I was sent to Madison to be a voice for the residents of Northeast Wisconsin and their message to me was very clear: no new taxes or fee increases to fund state government spending,” Nygren said. Last fall, citizens of Wisconsin voiced their concerns over state government spending; and no tax increase was at the top of their list. “That’s why I don’t understand the Democrats announcing a budget that will place an additional $1.7 billion in new taxes on the backs of Wisconsin’s taxpayers,” stated Nygren. “Wisconsin’s hard-working families have to budget and live within their means, it’s about time state government does the same thing and that is why I’m backing a no-tax-increase budget.”
Here is the list of current signers:
Rep. Vukmir
Rep. LeMahieu
Rep. Lothian
Rep. Pridemore
Rep. Lasee
Rep. Zipperer
Rep. Nass
Rep. Kramer
Rep. Nygren
Please let these legislators know that you support them and will continue to support them as they fight for the taxpayers in Madison.
I should also add that I do know that Rep. Gunderson has unequivocably told a constituent that he is signing the pledge. I haven’t personally heard from him yet, so I’m holding off on putting him on the list.
For the record, Rep. Vos and Rep. Ott have both said that they will not sign it.
No word from Rep. Wieckert?
Nope. To be fair, it’s been a beautiful week and he may have been bike riding.
FYI, Rep. Nygren is the guy who replaced John Gard.
I’m surprised Rep. Carol Owens hasn’t signed it. Or am I?
