MJS Advocates “No” to Sick Leave Referendum

The MJS editorial board gets one right.

Passage of a mandatory sick pay ordinance would place Milwaukee businesses at a competitive disadvantage and run counter to efforts to attract new investment to the city and expand businesses already here.

The concept of mandated sick pay sounds good, but the timing of the proposal couldn’t be worse. We urge a “no” vote.

Although I’m looking forward to an aggressive business recruitment effort by Washington County should the referendum pass.

  2. I believe the referendum will pass with at least 60 percent of the vote. Look at all the freeloaders that will be going in to vote for That One just to get more money from someone else’s pocket. Why not vote themselves even more money out of someone else’s pocket while they’re at it?

  3. They should start with the Dave and Busters that Wawatosa just shot down.  Put it right there near Cabelas.  Or maybe a Damon’s.  Need a nice big sports bar there.  Get some reloads after a morning of hunting, then lunch and catch a game.  Perfect.

  5. Of course the JS is going to argue against it. It is something that they are not going to be able to hide from and it will affect their dwindling bottom line…
