He’s still making Milwaukee proud.
A Milwaukee County department has suspended rent-assistance payments to Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway’s property-investment firm, saying the living conditions at his fire-damaged apartment building on W. Atkinson Ave. do not meet minimal standards.
Meanwhile, Holloway was able to avoid legal action from the city’s Department of Neighborhood Services, which had three inspectors at the fire-damaged building Friday afternoon.Although Holloway hadn’t addressed all the issues stemming from fire-safety violations, he had made substantial progress, said Tracy Williams, the department’s chief operations officer.
The department had set a Friday deadline for the repairs and considered closing the building as an option if improvements weren’t made.
