Mike Schlotfeldt’s Multiple Hats

This may not be a revelation to other West Bend residents, but I just noticed that the District 6 Alderman, Mike Schlotfeldt, is also the Washington County Democratic Party Chairman.  This is interesting because District 4 Alderman, Nick Dobberstein, said that one of the reasons for voting to appoint Justman was that he appeared more “non-partisan.”  I wonder what Dobberstein thinks about his buddy, Mike, with whom he has voted on all of these contentious issues.

.....I think there are at least two potential democrats on the council now (I think one is the chairman of the Wash. Co. unit)......

Gee, maybe you will help the Democrats get a crack at getting elected to some County positions, with all this talk about “corruption” (don’t forget, Deiss is Republican) - it’s been a long time since a Democrat got elected (I think the last time was DA Fred Fink).

  2. While I am definitely no fan of his latest decisions on Mayoral selection process nor Mr. Justman, many of Alderman Schlotfeldt’s previous decisions have been predominantly non-partisan.  He was and continues to be a vocal opponent of the Aquatic Center.  He was and continues to be an opponent of using city dollars for the dumb Highway 33 underpass - actually trying to deter then Alderwoman Deiss from taking the unprecedented step of re-opening a closed capital budget.  He also took the lead on having the city go to a performance based budget.
