Migration

If you haven’t yet played with the migration map over at Forbes, check it out.  Detroit looks like a flamethrower.  Austin looks like a black hole.

For our Wisconsin readers, here’s Milwaukee.

  2. Cool.
So, I assume a large Mexican population connects the Southwest and snowbirds make up the Arizona and Florida lines.

  3. Check out the movement from Dane and Milwaukee counties to Florida,
all those retired government teachers and other government pukes taking their big retirement bundles and heading for the warmth.  Oh, and the zero rate state tax.  What a bunch of suckers we are in this state.

  4. There seems to be a lot of outmigration to the Seattle area, NYC and Washington D.C. and environs which would also be consistent with graduates of a major research university going elsewhere to cash in.  If they had even a TA job here they would show up on the IRS records as an income earner.
For the record, my retirement plans involving staying right here and taking advantage of a house that’s fully paid for.

  5. The problem is obvious; we need to raise taxes and install more choo-choos.
