Mayor of Detroit Jailed for Violating Bail

Be proud, Detroit… be proud

The mayor of the US city of Detroit has been jailed for violating the terms of his bail in a perjury case.

Kwame Kilpatrick had travelled to Canada without informing the court.

Mr Kilpatrick faces charges including lying under oath to try to cover up an affair with his former chief of staff, misconduct and obstruction of justice.

He is also accused of sacking a police officer who was investigating reports of a wild party at his mayoral mansion. Mr Kilpatrick, 37, denies the charges.

  1. I’ve been reading the press reports about this case.  The liberal leaders of Detroit are throwing him under the bus and want him to resign.  Compare this to the Milwaukee lefties who will go to all ends to protect their liberal groups and politicians.

  2. A prominent African-American politician who was elected mayor at the age of 31, Mr Kilpatrick had been considered one of the rising stars of the Democratic Party, correspondents say.

Was Michael McGee considered a rising star in the Democratic Party too?

Its great that politics is about personalities not principle.  Personalities are so much more conducive to good government.  rolleyes

  3. “Detroit’s government will continue to operate as usual. ... Trash will continue to be collected, recreation centers will remain open, grass will be cut and fires will be extinguished,’’ a statement from the mayor’s office said.

By “fires extinguished” I assume they are talking about burning vehicles after post-sporting-event “celebrations” no????
