Man Arrested for Illegally Purchasing Gun for Cop Shooter

Something else is going on here.

A 21-year-old man has been charged in federal court with buying a gun police say was used by another man to shoot two Milwaukee police officers, according to court records.

Jacob D. Collins, of Milwaukee, bought the .40-caliber Taurus pistol at Badger Guns in West Milwaukee in early May and then sold it to Julius Burton, 18, according to a criminal complaint. Burton has been arrested in the officers’ shooting but has not been formally charged. The district attorney’s office is reviewing the case.

Collins admitted to investigators he lied when he signed a form at Badger saying he was the actual buyer of the gun, the complaint says. Collins said he bought the gun knowing he was going to sell it to Burton for $40, it says.

First off, what Collins did was clearly illegal and they should lock him up for as long as possible.

But $40?  I can’t imagine any .40 Taurus pistol - even a used one - going for that price.  In other words, Collins had to have eaten the majority of the actual cost of the gun.  It sounds to me like Collins was paying off a debt (drugs) and $40 was just the balance left over.

  1. I agree that Collins should have the book thrown at him.

And in a better world the shooter should never again see anything but an orange suit. Sadly, in Doyle’s Wisconsin, I suspect he’ll be back out before he’s 30, probably much sooner.

I also questioned the $40 selling price and figured either they meant Burton (the shooter) paid Collins $40 MORE than Collins actually paid for the Taurus or as you mentioned, the deal was to settle another debt.

Meanwhile, the MSM and Tom choo-choo Barrett are both expressing outrage at Collins and the “gun problem” while neither seems to hold THE SHOOTER responsible for HIS ACTIONS. WTF?

If Barrett tries to use this incident to pass some half-assed emergency gun legislation (as he has threatened to do), I swear I will personally shove a Howitzer up his freakin @ss and…

    FIRE ONE!

Man, that would be fun smile

Just an average white guy clinging to my religion & guns….

  2. “I don’t care what these special interest groups say. I want them to see what happens in that hospital room when you’ve got police officers laying there because someone says it’s a great idea to be carrying a gun in the middle of the city. It has to change and it has to change now. I don’t want to go through this again in this community,” Barrett said.

I want to say that as a member of society who swore an oath to uphold and defend the constitutions of the US and Wisconsin, I find that this miserable excuse for a mayor who was equating a thug who tried to execute two fellow police officers with law abiding citizens who have the “gall” to exercise their constitutional rights was completely abhorrent and utterly offensive in the extreme.  Mayor Barrett owes an apology to all law abiding citizens & law enforcement officers. But I won’t hold my breath.

  3. WISN was reporting this morning that $40 was the cost of the straw purchase, and $400 was the purchase price of the gun, which is in line with a Taurus handgun.
