I saw a Lotus on I94 in Milwaukee yesterday. After looking it up, I’m a bit surprised at how relatively inexpensive they are. I mean, it’s the same price as an Escalade or something similar.
I rented one in England. They’re the sports car purist’s dream. No frills (though I think some frills are optional), lightweight, uncomfortable over long distances, zero storage. Despite its small engine, it goes like hell and corners like a sumbitch.
Owen,
I’ve seen one around Marquette quite often actually, as well as in the Third Ward. Gorgeous vehicle, and quite impressive handling as well (perhaps unsurprisingly, since it weighs next to nothing). Braking distance is unbelievable as well. I desperately want one, since it seems much more attainable than, say, a Porsche, Corvette, or Ferrari.
I’m a surprised to see their relatively inexpensive. Its really great. Thanks for sharing about this matter.
Thanks for sahring abouts this great matter.
Before this goes any farther…no.
Was it the Exige S? I saw it on Burleigh and 70th the other day.
My wife said she saw a Ferrari on 94 a few days ago. Might have bee this Lotus. These days I’d prefer a Mayback as I become built more for comfort than speed.
It’s the razer theory of cars: low initial cost, but they make it up on repairs. And being a Lotus, there are plenty of repairs.
The Elise has a Toyota engine, so the traditional problems associated with British engineering would be reduced, if not eliminated.
A Tesla Roadster is an Elise with the coolness factor ratcheted up to 10.
Same body style and same frame as the Elise, designed by former Lotus designers, but fully electric and made in America by an American company. 0-60 mph in four seconds, and 200 miles per charge. That is cool.
The downside is it cost 3 times more than a Lotus.
