Cool.
In many ways, the Lemba tribe of Zimbabwe and South Africa are just like their neighbours.
But in other ways their customs are remarkably similar to Jewish ones.
They do not eat pork, they practise male circumcision, they ritually slaughter their animals, some of their men wear skull caps and they put the Star of David on their gravestones.
Their oral traditions claim that their ancestors were Jews who fled the Holy Land about 2,500 years ago.
It may sound like another myth of a lost tribe of Israel, but British scientists have carried out DNA tests which confirm their Semitic origin.
These tests back up the group’s belief that a group of perhaps seven men married African women and settled on the continent. The Lemba, who number perhaps 80,000, live in central Zimbabwe and the north of South Africa.
Odd, I thought the lost Jewish tribe had established itself in American politics, and has since 1948 been actively draining the treasury in order to sustain Israel’s existence.
Its been a while since I’d read about this, but as I recall, it had been speculated by european explorers that some non-african people had settled in Zimbabwe and built the Great Zimbabwe (a settlement of stone buildings). Basically what the europeans found there was way more advanced than what they found anywhere else in southern africa and they doubted africans on their own could have developed the skills to make/build such stuff. The Jewish roots of this Lemba tribe may have something to do with that.
Spending foreign aid for the defense of Israel is one kind of spending I can agree with. They have always been our steadfast friends in the middle east… even when we have a bonehead like Obama asking them to take the same foolish course that he is taking. Thankfully, the Israelis ignore him in the same fashion that the rest of the world is doing.
As for the lost tribe, I find it amazing how resilient the tribes of Israel are. They’ve been under siege for 2000 years and yet they always seem to flourish. If only Americans had that type of spirit.

They get caught spying on us more than anybody else?
Ah, Foo… Your friends the Chinese spy on us like it was going out of style. It’s not Israel that you should fear. Often, when Israel is caught gathering intelligence (as all nations do), it is gathering information on future US actions with regard to the mid-east. If we use intelligence gathering to define our friends, then America stands alone.
Israel has been our only stable ally in a screwed up and dangerous part of the world. Prior to Iraq, it was the only true democracy in the mid-east as well. Who would you prefer as friends? The Peoples Republic? Venezuela? Iran? Gimme a break.
America stands alone.
When it comes to acts of treason, I can certainly agree with that.
You can minimize, deflect and just plain bs about this all you want, but the simple fact of the matter is that nobody has gotten caught spying on us more than Israel.
As far as the Chinese go, they already hold enough of our paper to wreak war like havoc on us without putting there shoes on and lately it sounds like they probably will in the not to distant future.
nobody has gotten caught spying on us more than Israel.
Now that’s just ridiculous. You feel that Israel has committed more espionage in the US than China? The old Soviet Union? Modern Russia? If you want to be an Israel basher, go ahead… not a game that I want to play with you. The crowd who engages in that rhetoric is generally a creepy bunch.
I believe the protocol you established would call for you to prove me wrong?
Isn’t that right?
Where did TFG establish a protocol, that you can say any silly thing you want and it stands as fact that you are correct until he proves your wrong?
I think almost all foreign aid is a complete waste of money, that we don’t have, but Israel would be one of the few exceptions to that rule. They have been one of our very few allies.
Where did TFG establish a protocol, that you can say any silly thing you want and it stands as fact that you are correct until he proves your wrong?
Actually TGF wrote that every silly thing he writes is correct until someone else proves him wrong.
I guess I assumed it was reciprocal, maybe not.
Protocol? Where do you get this stuff? If you have nothing to add, there is no need to fill the void with nonsense.
If someone says something clearly foolish or misinformed, my general “protocol” is to find it humorous, and sometimes openly mock it depending of the general character of the posters previous remarks.
@Curt: I’d generally agree. Foreign aid should be reserved for disasters, and for nations in need that have proven to be responsive to America’s interests. It should be used as a reward to allies… like Israel.
I have no problem with being allied with Israel in the Middle East, my objections are with the amount of Jewish people in Government who hold “duel citizenship” making policy regarding Israel, policies that don’t bode well for America, and cost the U.S. billions annually, with no appreciable return for the amount spent. These people with duel citizenship seem to be more concerned with Israel’s welfare than that of the U.S. which makes me suspect where their allegiance actually lies.
How is it that we helped win the Jews freedom from persecution only to become enslaved by their demands for continued protection? Duel citizenship does not a loyal citizen make, and as history has proven we are not being well served by allowing for this situation.
Protocol? Where do you get this stuff? If you have nothing to add, there is no need to fill the void with nonsense.
Doesn’t Yahoo exist in your world, free? Or Bing? Google even, if you must. Could you please provide me with a link to explain why your answer to every opinion and topic is “provide me with a link”? If you think he is mistaken, then look it up yourself and present your data.

First, I am still wondering why you often answer peoples opinions with “Provide me a link”. I would LOVE to have a link explaining your insatiable thirst for links… especially in regards to opinions.
Second, to put the quote in perspective (you seem to have a problem with that Fro… perhaps you should just call yourself opinion and end the mystery) You responded to another poster who answered you that his source was the US Census by saying:
Doug, could you please provide the link or the actual name of the document that you are using?
In response to your laziness at having to actually navigate to the Census site yourself (or was it snarkiness), I said the above. I’ll stand by that. I’m not sure how every post I make has the power of setting legal protocol in your eyes, but it’s fine by me. Here goes:
All liberal types must listen to 1 hour of Limbaugh and 1 hour of O’Reilley before posting in response to my pontifications.
There you go, opinions, I’ve set a protocol… I like WISN 1130 for my Limbaugh listening, but feel free to download the O’Reilley podcast if you like. Wait, before you ask, here is the link:

Never said it was a legal protocol, just your protocol.
Opinions are fine, everybody has them.
The reason I usually ask for a link, and usually try provide them, is credibility?
I ask for a link to better understand a particular perception or perspective.
I suppose I could resort to the grade school playground games of bullshit, bravado and insults that you so heavily rely on but I think I’ll pass.
I see by your referenced sources that you prefer opinionated entertainment rather than factual information.
What was that you said about lazy?
And just for clarity, it was Free Lunch that you were responding to and who had asked Doug for clarification on that 20100211 #64 post.
So is it that you have trouble keeping your facts straight or just more bullshit.
It’s hard to keep you two separate… you both sound like you read from the same DNC talking points… I really don’t waste my time differentiating between you two.
So, unless you have some great insider information about the great Zionist spy conspiracy in the US (from non red Chinese sources), I’d say our time on this topic is quickly coming to an end. I’ll stick with Israel over your friends any day… no links needed, that’s just my opinion.
btw, Oreilley is YOUR link now… so goes the protocol.
So it’s confused BS coupled with a loose grip on reality?
Works for me.
TFG,
I love the one quote he pulls out where someone asks him for a link, was a frustrated response to another thread he hijacked by asking for a link for everything. I love the ones where he asks me for a link to backup my opinion. If I said I love donuts, he’ll want a link.
For someone like TFG, who typically makes a lot of sense, and argues well, even when I disagree, no link is needed. Even when I disagree with him, I don’t doubt the veracity of his claims, just perhaps his interpretation or opinion on them. For “fact or opinion”, you can add links to support all of your arguments, and I doubt I’ll ever click one.
“The reason I usually ask for a link, and usually try provide them, is credibility?”
Well it isn’t working for you, and until you make a cogent argument yourself, no link is going to help. Without a sound argument, your obsession with links, just makes it seem like you have no opinions of your own.
